About this event

TEDxBerkeley 2012 provided a platform for the BayArea’s leading visionaries and storytellers to speak to an energised group of thinkers, as well as to the world at large. At this event, 1000 changemakers, innovators, thinkers, creatives, cultural leaders & social pioneers witnessed a back-to-back schedule of talks, performances and other multimedia surprises showcasing the theme of Inspiring Innovation: pioneering technologies, fresh thinking and new ideas that will foster creativity and action around the world.

    Connie Duckworth founded ARZU, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, in 2004 and serves pro bono as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
  • David Ewing Duncan
    David Ewing Duncan is an award-winning, best-selling author of seven books published in 19 languages; he is a journalist and a television, radio and film producer and correspondent.
  • DeCadence
    UC Berkeley’s DeCadence (pronounced dee-KAY-dence, with a capital ‘C’), is best known around the Bay Area for their one-of-a-kind quirkiness and lovable eccentricity.
  • Gopi Kallayil
    Gopi Kallayil works at Google on the marketing of Google Plus and is based out of the Googleplex in Mountain View, CA.
  • Jodi Lomask
    Jodi Lomask has been commissioned to create original works for NASA, TED, SFO, Computers and Structures, the California Academy of Sciences, and the Salvadorian Olympic Gymnastics Team.
  • Ken Goldberg
    Ken Goldberg is an inventor working at the intersection of art, robotics, and social media. At UC Berkeley, Ken teaches and supervises research in Robotics, Automation, and New Media.
  • Lindsey Stirling

  • Robert Strong
    Robert Strong, The Comedy Magician has been crisscrossing the world since 1985 entertaining audiences large and small, young and old, formal and casual, and everything in between!
  • Tapan Parikh
    Tapan Parikh is an Assistant Professor at the School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley.
  • Tiffany Shlain
    Honored by Newsweek as one of the “Women Shaping the 21st Century,” Tiffany Shlain is a filmmaker, founder of the Webby Awards, and cofounder of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences.
