TEDxWalledCity is coming back as TEDxDelhi 2016.

TEDxDelhi promises to be a place that brings together sought after thought leaders, idea mavens, contrarians and youth icons to share an "idea of their lifetime", and explore the theme of ''Humanity''.

The world needs much "Humanity" in the way we interact with technology, think about hunger, malnutrition & education, the way we design for our future and many other areas. This years TEDxDelhi will have many firsts on the stage on one of the grandest theatres in the world. The event will see some awe inspiring performances, several new technology demos and ideas in the lounges, a tour through Indian culture and art in a venetian style indoor cultural emporium, as you meet and greet speakers who have transformed the world with their phenomenal ideas.

The event access includes an android and IOS app that allows networking opportunities with fellow attendees and speakers, a TEDxDelhi gift bag, lunch and yes....coffee!

Annu Kumari

Child Marriage Activist
Annu Kumari lives in a very small village in rural Rajasthan. She is a Child Rights activist, fighting against the injustice of child marriage in rural India. She has worked with hundreds of children educating them on their rights to say "No" to child marriage and honouring this illegal pact made between their parents. Through their organisation Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti and the HAQ Center for Child Rights, they have saved thousands of children from this injustice. This vibrant young woman aims to remove this social ill completely from India and from the world and looks for collaborations worldwide to fulfil on her dreams.

Arvind Vohra

Father / Cancer Activist
Mr. Arvind R Vohra, Heads Gionee’s Business in India. As Director of Syntech Technology Pvt. Ltd, he is the India Partner to Gionee’s overseas arm Syntech Technology (HK) Ltd. In his role as a Partner, Vohra’s prime focus is to build the business. Given his experience in the industry he is credited with building a unique Business Model for Gionee. He comes in with approx. 20 years of experience in Distribution, Marketing, Retail, Business Development and After Sales Service. Arvind started his career from Network Limited, and worked with Samsung and Salora International before becoming a consultant in 2008. Arvind holds a MBA degree with specialization in Marketing. As a father whose son survived cancer, he along with his Wife Monica Vohra, run a foundation that supports thousands of families whose children are battling cancer.

Aryan Mishra

Astroid Hunter
Aryan Mishra is a 16 year old astronomer whose curiosity in space led him to discover an unknown asteroid in a nationwide asteroid search campaign. Aryan, who idolises Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space, took this as an opportunity to reach out to thousands of kids across various schools in India, US, Canada and Israel, sharing his passion and inspiring people to "look up". Son of a high school educated newspaper seller, Aryan’s humble beginnings did not stop him from pursuing his dreams - on days there would be something important happening in the sky, you would find Aryan setting up his telescope (that he bought with his pocket money when he was 13) in his street for the kids in the neighbourhood, telling them about eclipses, the Milky Way, the stars and the beautiful queen in the sky called Andromeda.

Bee Rowlatt

Reason Activist
Bee Rowlatt is a writer and journalist. Her current book --- "In Search of Mary" --- was inspired by the life of Mary Wollstonecraft. It won the UK’s “Real Life Reads” 2016 and made the Independent’s Best Biographies list. It was featured on BBC Meet the Author, PRI’s The World, and described by Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen as “terrific – quite unlike anything I’ve read before.” Bee writes a regular feminism blog for the BBC; co-wrote the best-selling Talking about Jane Austen in Baghdad and is one of the writers in Virago’s Fifty Shades of Feminism. Public speaking appearances include 5x15, the Southbank Women of the World festival, Hay Festival, and British Council literary events in Iraq, Norway, India, Mexico, Russia and Palestine. She’s a regular guest on BBC Woman’s Hour and has reported for World Service, Newsnight, and BBC2. She has four kids and lives in New Delhi.

Bharath M Devraj is a Bangalore based beat boxer who has recently won the Beatboxing championship of Bangalore in 2016.

Diwakar Vaish

Diwakar Vaish is a 23 years old robotics researcher and Head of Robotics and Research at A-SET Training and Research Institute. Diwakar is the developer of India's first completely indigenous 3D printed humanoid robot (Manav) and also the country’s first's first mind controlled robot. In 2016, Diwakar developed the world's first production brain controlled wheelchair for Locked In Syndrome (LIS) patients which uses the brain's electrical impulses to command the wheelchair. A guest lecturer at IITS, NITs and several other engineering institutions in the country, Diwakar has been recognised for his pioneering work by Former Presidents of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam & Smt. Pratibha Patil.

Joey Ellis

Stop Motion Artist
Joey Foster Ellis, is among the world’s most versatile artists - a stop motion animator, sculptor, contemporary art conservator, a “professional foreigner” and a TED Fellow (2010). Joey received his BFA in Beijing from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 2009, becoming its first American graduate. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout Asia and North America and in numerous private collections including those of Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former United States President George W. Bush. Joey has received several site-specific commissions, including Greenpeace, Bank of America, Chevron and Manulife and his work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time and Newsweek. In 2012 Joey was selected by The Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum as one of the “40 Under 40”, a major exhibition highlighting the work of forty artists born since 1972.

Julius Mitchell

South Asia'a top Beat Boxer
Julius Mitchell is a freestyle beatboxer from Sri Lanka who is currently teaching beatboxing at the David Academy of Performing Arts (DAPA) in Sri Lanka. A singer, vocal instrumentalist, pianist, guitarist, and a Choral and Acapella Music Arranger, Julius was the music Arranger of the very well known acapella music ensemble "Voice Print" in Sri Lanka which went for the World Choir Games in 2010 in Shaoxing, China and won the silver and Bronze medals in the Pop and Sacred categories respectively. Julius, who started singing when he was 11 as a part of his school choir, took the lead in making beatboxing popular in his country while gaining ground as a performing artist in Germany, China, Dubai and India.

Kamakshi Khanna

Kamakshi Khanna is a Delhi based singer, composer and songwriter who wants to make music that speaks to people and stays with them. Kamakshi is a reality Television celebrity from Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt's "The Stage". Kamakshi and her collective, have performed at 100s of events, including the the WILLS India fashion week, Rock For Child Rights, Outlook Traveller Awards, The Business World Marketing Book Launch, NH7 the scene, Capsule X Festival, DIY DAY and others, launched their debut EP “Much Mellow” in 2015 and are now planning to release their second album.

Kamal Meattle

Indoor Air Quality Expert
Kamal Meattle, a TED speaker, is an indoor air quality expert who as the CEO of the Paharpur Business Centre and Software Technology Incubator Park (PBC-STIP), in New Delhi, has created an office that is known to enhance productivity because of its great indoor air quality. The building publishes its air quality index every day, and tracks its compliance to the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact, a corporate-citizenship initiative. With its air-filtering plants and sustainable architecture, Kamal Meattle's office park in New Delhi is a model of green business. Meattle himself is a longtime activist for cleaning up India's air.

Kanika Tekriwal, 27, is one of the 100 most inspirational women chosen by BBC and for the right reasons. She survived cancer to become a successful aviation entrepreneur and to be on the cover of Forbes Asia in a span of a few years. She is also among 30 entrepreneurs under 30 recognised by Forbes Asia. An entrepreneur who is a relentless pursuer of hope, positivity and drive. Her energy is infectious. A marathon runner, a painter, a traveler and more, she is redefining her life every day. Her company JetSetGo – India’s first and only market place for private jets, is an interactive technology driven platform enabling users to search and charter aircrafts and helicopters across India.

Krishnendu Dasgupta is a Consumer Goods Marketing professional with 14+ years of cross functional experience in Brand Development, Marketing Research, Customer Marketing and Customer Development. As part of the India Sanitation Coalition, Krishnendu has driven the social imperative of corporate India for a cleaner, healthier country under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The India Sanitation Coalition brings together all actors in the sanitation space to drive sustainable sanitation through a partnership mode.

Raj Raghunathan

Dr Happy Smarts
Raj Raghunathan (aka Dr “Happy-smarts”) is the Professor of Marketing at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas, Austin. A researcher and author, Raj teaches a very successful course on Happiness around the world and his book "If You’re So Smart, Why Aren't You Happy” explores the habits that lead to happiness and reveals the traits of people that can get in the way of happiness. An associate editor at the Journal of Consumer Psychology and guest Associate Editor at the Journal of Marketing Research, Raj’s work has been cited in leading publications like The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and Self magazine.

Sana Iqbal

Sana Iqbal is the first Indian Woman to have traveled the entire India and Nepal on a bike while conducting seminars in educational institutions across countries to raise awareness against suicide and dealing with depression. Sana has clocked 38,000kms while covering 111 cities in total and 135 sessions in both the countries together. Motto of the ride was to spread happiness and through the seminars, she aimed at educating youth on how to spread happiness and reduce suicide rate and depression in India.

Tisca Chopra

Tisca Chopra is an Indian Actor, author and producer. Her debut production short movie "Chutney" recasts the position of a woman in Indian society. The movie scored nearly 100m views and won popular Indian and international awards in various categories. He is the Co-founder of Zenith Vipers (along with his identical twin brother Yuvraj), a company which encourages students to come up with their ideas and research projects for the betterment of society. He is part of 22 research projects and 7 published Patents. Their research projects include smart water purification system, all in one medical assistance machine, Home automation using BCI, etc. They are most famous for their first project, a purifier which removed/extracted heavy metals from river water using Pearl Millet (Bajra) powder. They have presented their research papers at various national and international science fairs and won several awards. Recently the prestigious Karmaveer Chakra Award 2016.
