TEDxBinnenhof is a public-private platform for innovative ideas with societal impact. We actively search and share innovative ideas with the potential to change to world for the better. The most inspiring future shapers are invited to the TEDxBinnenhof stage to present their ideas to stakeholders such as leading experts and policy makers.
In the context of the Dutch Presidency of the European Council, this year’s TEDxBinnenhof will have a EU-wide focus. In 2015 we have launched the Ideas From Europe campaign. Together with many stakeholders we actively searched for Ideas Worth Doing throughout whole the EU.

Anita Schjøll Brede

CEO and Co-Founder of Iris Al
Anita dropped by six universities (Berkeley, Stanford, Chalmers) on her way to the top. She has been in 8 different industries and has founded four startups. She developed an e-learning tool in Silicon Valley, perfumed theater for babies, reduced energy consumption in the process industry through heat exchanger network optimization, facilitated solar light business creation in Kenya and got 30 engineers to dance to ABBA in front of their co-workers. Currently, she is the CEO and Co-Founder of Iris Al, a Google Maps for Science. Anita connects the dots, gathers her team in one unified vision and gets it done.

Cécile Real

Co-founder Endodiag
Cécile is an experienced entrepreneur in the medical industry and management of start-ups. She co-founded her first start-up at the age of 25: Bioprofile; developing innovative solutions for arthritis. She also set up an international distribution network and integrated Bioprofile within a US SME, before being acquired by a larger company. In 2011, Cecile co-founded Endodiag; specialized in endometriosis diagnosis. In 2012, she won the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award.

Charalampos Ioannou

Electrical and Software Engineering Student, Junior Researcher, Inventor
Charalampos Ioannou is a 20-year-old undergraduate student and inventor. He is currently studying Electrical and Software Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). In 2012 he won the European Union’s competition for young scientists, “The Best Engineering entry” (EUCYS 2012), and in 2013, he was one of the 5 global finalists of Google’s global science competition, “Google Science Fair” with his invention of a movement-enhancing exoskeleton glove. He was a speaker at TEDx Athens for both 2012 and 2013, communicating his passion for inventions and creative science projects. Currently, he is a founding member of “Bioassist”, a company that applies state of the art software and machine learning algorithms in order to monitor vital health signal of independent living for elderly people.

Gerhard Dust

Founder PolyCare
Dr. Gerhard Dust, born 1952 in Soest, Germany, started his career in the construction business. After service in the Luftwaffe and graduation from university he followed his family tradition of working in the book industry. Being COO of Libri 1991-2008 he earned an international reputation for the analysis, design and implementation of high level automated storage and distribution systems. In 2010 under the impression of the earthquake in Haiti he founded PolyCare.

Jos Joore

Co-founder Mimetas
Jos is a driven and creative professional, between market and science. Jos holds a cum laude Master’s degree in business marketing, a Ph.D. in developmental biology and a Master’s degree in biology. Jos is a biotech entrepreneur, with over seventeen years of executive level biotech experience in a variety of companies; Pepscan, Skyline Diagnostics, Kreatech, and Westburg. He is a co-founder of 4 companies; Mimetas, Pepscope, Spreekmeester, and Kopla. Mimetas develops predictive organ-on-a-chip cell culture models for better, more reliable and tailored medicines.

Kenny Ewan

CEO of WeFarm
Kenny is CEO of WeFarm, a pioneering social enterprise, scaling a unique peer-to-peer knowledge-sharing platform for the 450 million small-scale farmers around the world with no access to the internet. After graduating from the University of Dundee, Kenny went to Peru in 2002 to work as a volunteer English teacher. He loved the country so much that he decided to stay. In 2007, he became Peru’s Country Director for ProWorld Service Corps. This international development NGO specializes in projects for isolated, indigenous communities. He returned to the UK in 2009 to take a role as part of the Cafedirect Producers Foundation (CPF) start-up team. He designed and managed all of CPF’s international projects across East Africa and Latin America.

Lorenzo Pradella

Lorenzo Pradella is Co-Founder CEO and COO of GreenBone Ortho Srl. Greenbone develops an innovative wood-derived bone implants technology to generate biomimetic load bearing implant suitable to address non-union fractures. Greenbone wants to become a worldwide leader for bio mimetics by providing innovative and easy to use lifelike inspired solutions that will help cure diseases. Lorenzo has more than 25 years experiences in R&D, Business Development, and Venture Capital. Lorenzo holds a degree in Biological Science from the Universita Degli Studi di Milano with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology.

Micael Hermansson

Teacher
Micael is a teacher from the Swedisch northern town Umeå. He has developed a concept with micro lessons, only 8 minutes, a fairytale of facts. This concept has not only inspired pupils, but also their parents, siblings and teachers all over Sweden. More than 20000 teachers use his concept. He has facilitated the biggest digital educational community and in 2015 Micael was elected as Best Teacher of the year. Micael calls it ‘Grej’of the day; a micro-lesson format designed to kick start each day with a knowledge injection.

Nathan Farrugia

Executive director of Empower
Nathan believes that people, not organizations, make a difference in today’s world. He is executive director of Empower; creates, develops and sustains employment opportunities for persons with a disability. Nathan is also a director of many other charities and non-profit foundations in Malta. He is an avid sportsman, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. He owns a business, Ultimate Performance – level UP! in executive training, events management, and consultancy. As a philanthropist, he has raised funds for projects locally and internationally, set up a social enterprise and supported organizations with a range of causes and projects.

Nora Khaldi

Founder of Nuritas
Dr. Nora Khaldi is a mathematician with a PhD in Molecular Evolution and the founder of Nuritas, a company that has revolutionised the discovery of health-benefiting molecules using artificial intelligence and DNA sequencing analysis. Throughout her career, Nora’s ambition has been to disrupt the status quo and introduce new ways of thinking to address many of the health and sustainability issues facing the world today. Previous to Nuritas, Nora was the first scientist to show gene transfer between multi-cellular species. This groundbreaking find put into question many of the phylogenetic methods currently in use today.

Pirkka Palomäki

COO & CTO of Enevo
Pirkka is the COO & CTO of Enevo, a privately held company providing smart logistics optimization solutions for the waste management and recycling industry. From 2008 till 2014 he worked form F-Secure Corporation as Chief Strategy Officer, CTO, and interim CEO. In 2011, he won the CTO of the Year 2011 award by the Technology Academy of Finland. Pirkka has an MSc in Industrial Management of the Helsinki University of Technology. Pirkka is an experienced and accomplished leader in software and services businesses with hands-on expertise in running strategy, product management, R&D, M&A, and marketing.

Stefania Druga

Founder HacKIDemia
Innately curious and passionate about creating and testing new learning models, instructional designer by training, evolved into a learning architect and is currently a graduate student at MIT Media Lab Livelong Kindergarden grou. She is also a former Googler and graduated from an international Erasmus Mundus master of Media Engineering for Education (France, Spain, Portugal). In the summer of 2012 she was also the Education Teaching Fellow at Singularity University where she advised and coached 80 students from 36 countries. Currently she is leading Hackidemia organization (mobile lab for maker Education present in 40 countries), Afrimakers (community of Maker projects in 10 Africa countries) and MakerCamp (global camps for learning how to build and run makerspaces) Stefania is also an an ambassador for global MakerFaire in Berlin and Shenzhen, collaborator for digital fabrication with Samsung Research.
