In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Michael Balzer and Pamela Scott

Michael Balzer is the founder of ‘slo 3D creators’, a 3D print, scan, design and education studio located in San Luis Obispo, California. In providing services for those who need their ideas produced in tangible form, or existing tangible objects converted to a digital form, he works with students, artisans, engineers, architects, manufacturers, and inventors to take their ideas to next level.
 Pamela S. Scott has served the residents of San Luis Obispo County as a therapist in private practice since 1991. She has worked for non-profit & county social service agencies, as well as being a part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
As a therapist, it’s her job to look for creative solutions to all kinds of problems.

Ricardo Benítez & Benjamin Van Gelder

Ricardo Benítez is a millennial designer and engineer from Venezuela living in Madrid. He has developed several entrepreneurial projects and is now dedicated to help companies to innovate through design. Last year he received a challenge from the TEDxCibeles team and got involved in a very special project to solve it. Benjamin is a young strategic designer and entrepreneur native from Belgium. He started studying communication and marketing in Brussels and came to Madrid to study an additional master in strategic design and innovation.In his free time he likes traveling, hiking and cooking. In 2014 he married passion and innovation when he founded Cooks in town. His project aims to create moments that bring people together to rediscover the pleasures of sharing food.His interest in social innovation is at the top of his concerns. His philosophy of “with people for people” summarises his belief that only through social innovation we can achieve a sustainable society in the future.

Anxo Pérez

Anxo is the creator of 8Belts, a revolutionary method ensuring to speak a language in less than eight months. This young entrepreneur born in Finisterre, Galicia, was raised in the United States, Belgium and China, and has worked for the FBI and the UN, and as an interpreter of Barack Obama. Actor in a feature film, he has released an album and has given concerts in seven countries, plays six musical instruments, has five university degrees and masters nine languages. After his experience as an entrepreneur, Anxo noted that a number of keys that, properly assimilated, become accelerators of success. He decided to share through his book "The 88 Steps to Success" published in May 2014 and introduced by Pablo Motos . In this book, Anxo offers 88 keys to success in life and in business: precise, practical and extremely effective, the implementation is immediate.

Arturo Vittori

Arturo Vittori in an Italian Artist, Architect and a Designer. His work is internationally known for merging cutting edge technologies together with ancient traditions resulting in projects on the edge between Art and Science that answer our society’s most urgent needs. After graduating he gained experiences collaborating with Santiago Calatrava, Jean Nouvel. Future Systems, Anish Kapoor. He was Manager of Aircraft Cabin Design at Airbus and involved in Yachts and Cruisers design at Francis Design. Vittori, since 2002, is directing the research and design studio Architecture and Vision, he is also the CEO of the american NGO Warka Water Inc.

Asier Arranz

Asier Arranz is an expert in emerging technologies, especially in Human-Computer-Interaction, using technologies such as virtual and augmented reality. He has been speaker in Dubai Droidcon 'Android as the core of Virtual Reality', teacher and mentor at IE Business School, Repsol and entrepreneurship programs as Wayra, Imagine.cc, NetDay, Yuzz, Accelerates X2 Colombia, etc. Usual colaborator of campus Party (community of over 350K developers / makers), where he led the R & D.

Eesha Khare

Eesha Khare is a junior at Harvard University studying Biomedical Engineering, the Young Scientist Award winner of the 2013 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and was named Forbes 30 under 30 in Energy. In her nanomaterials research, she developed a novel supercapacitor energy-storage device with significantly faster charging times to potentially replace conventional batteries in consumer electronics. Eesha is passionate about developing technology for a sustainable world. Her prior research has included engineering a protein for environmental detoxification and designing nanoparticles for reduced power consumption in electronics. Eesha currently services as the Chair of the Women’s Initiative in Leadership at Harvard’s Institute of Politics and enjoys dancing in her free time.

François Brunelle

Photography is François Brunelle’s chosen medium of artistic expresion. Born in Sherbrooke, Canada, he discovered photography through the work of André de Dienes and Richard Avedon. His ensuing fascination – one might say obsession – with portrait photography as a means of visual expression led him to devote his work to taking portraits of the people around him in an ongoing effort to capture the elusive human soul. He is the author of The Seven Essential Tools for the Creative Photographer, published by Les Editions du Trait.

Juan Carlos Sebastia

Juan Carlos is an Industrial Engineer from Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). Passionate Entrepreneur of new technologies and its implementation into real projects. I define myself as a proactive person who works hard to achieve their goals, also multidisciplinary taking advantage of transferable skills which offer Industrial Engineer degree. With a continue and complementary learning to the University I try to develope valuable skills which would be useful in the business environment. Among my interests are learning about industrial process optimization into factories based on Lean Manufacturing as well as designing new products and working in engineering projects

Julian Melchiorri

Julian Melchiorri is an innovative engineer and italian designer. Internationally known for his visionary project Silk Leaf & Exhale, that proposes a radical solution to the urban and industrial environment using artificial devices to run the photosynthesis process. His works combine art and science and explore new scenarios and experiences through innovative experiments in materials Julian's work is inspired by phenomena and mechanisms of nature; by their ability to create efficient structures and the ability to adapt to the environment dynamically. It is primarily concerned with the need for social and environmental solutions to inspire people

Kiki King

Kiki King is British-Venezuelan journalist and broadcaster. She is a reporter for the international current affairs television series Unreported World on Channel 4. For Unreported World she has reported from Venezuela, Madagascar, Uganda and most recently in Kobani, Syria during the town’s siege by Islamic State militants. Now living in Mallorca with her family, Kiki spent many years in London as a tabloid newspaper reporter, gossip columnist and diarist working at the Mail on Sunday, Daily Mirror and the Daily Telegraph. She has also written for the Observer, Grazia, Evening Standard and Daily Mail among others and regularly appeared on BBC, Sky News, CNN and Channel 4. Outside of journalism, she now helps run a family business in Palma de Mallorca. She previously worked on an MP’s electoral campaign during the 2010 general election, and in Parliament.

Ned Norton

For the past 26 years, Ned Norton has dedicated himself to providing free or low-cost strength and conditioning training for hundreds of people with disabilities through his not for profit Warriors on Wheels. From his gym Warriors Gym located in a public housing hi-rise, his program leads individuals with disabilities to empower themselves to greater independence and enhances their capacity to live a purposeful life. A 2014 Top Ten CNN Heroes award winner, Norton has started The Hercules Project which donates free fitness equipment to individuals with disabilities, rehabilitation centers in war torn areas and group residences for the disabled worldwide.

Nicolas Huchet

Nicolas Huchet uses a mio-electric prosthesis every day since he suffered an accident at work in April 2002. He now has trouble acquiring a poli-digital prosthesis. In October 2012, he discovered the FabLab in his town and asked there if it was possible to make a robot-hand. They listened to his request and took it seriously. When the makers told him about 3D printing and open source (Arduino, thingiverse, inMoov, etc.), Nicolas realized all the possibilities citizens have in their own hands to change the world and that’s when he decided to act.

Shama Rahman

Shama Rahman has a PhD in the ‘Neuroscience of Musical Creativity using Complexity Tools’, and is a professional actor and musician. She has investigated emergent patterns in the electrical brain activity of Jazz and Classical pianists during the generation of two types of musical creativity: Improvisation and Interpretation. She is the co-author of a book chapter ‘Creativity in the Twenty First Century: Multidisciplinary Contributions to the Science of Creative Thinking’ by Springer due to be published summer 2015. As a musician, some of her music is conceptually inspired by her research. She is a multi-instrumentalist and performs around the world with her quintet as a Sitarist/Vocalist. She is also the founder of a Science/Performing Arts outfit, ‘Jugular: Joining Head and Heart’ with a powerful vision: showing that science, art, philosophy and entertainment are equally valid and fundamental parts of culture.

Urmi Basu

Urmi Basu (Kolkata, India) has devoted her life to fighting for childs rights and for social justice for the marginalized community of women in prostitution and survivors of trafficking and gender based violence. In 2000, Urmi set up a small non-profit named New Light in Kolkata’s red light district, Kalighat. The mission of the organization was to promote gender equality and fight violence and abuse of women, girls and young people.The organization also works to fight against child prostitution and trafficking for the purpose of sex- trade, child labour and bonded labour. Urmi’s significant contributions has been recognized in numerous occasions: ‘Global Citizen Award 2012’ ; ‘Make A Change Award 2011 and ‘Unsung Heroes of Compassion 2009’ blessing from His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
