Ontwerpster Emily Pilloton verhuisde naar het landelijke Bertie County, Noord Carolina om zich te engageren in een gewaagd experiment van een ontwerp-gedreven transformatie van een gemeenschap. Zij geeft ontwerp en bouw lessen genaamd "Studio H" dat de geest en lichaam van middelbare schoolstudenten activeert terwijl ze intelligent ontwerp aanbrengt en nieuwe kansen geeft aan de armste provincie in de staat.
