Musician Peter Gabriel is the co-founder of WITNESS, which distributes digital cameras to empower people to document human-rights abuses. A founder of the band Genesis, Gabriel is now a solo artist and record mogul, championing world music and innovation.

Peter Gabriel writes songs and was a founder member of the rock group Genesis, which he left in 1975. In 1980, he set up WOMAD and the label Real World to promote the music and culture of the world all around the world. He was also cofounder of WITNESS.org, an organization that helps human rights activists and citizen witnesses worldwide make change happen through the use of video, and to document what is really going on safely and effectively.
In 2007, Gabriel founded with Richard Branson and Nelson Mandela theElders.org, an independent group of global leaders working together for peace and human rights.
