John Doerr is an engineer, acclaimed venture capitalist, chairman of Kleiner Perkins and the author of "Speed and Scale" and "Measure What Matters."

He was one of the pioneers in the venture capital community investing in breakthrough clean technologies, deploying more than a billion dollars towards more efficient solar cells, better batteries, biofuels, lower-carbon cement, alternate proteins and electric vehicles.

Doerr was an original investor and board member at Amazon and Google and has helped create more than a million jobs and some of the world's most valuable companies. Outside of Kleiner Perkins, he works with social entrepreneurs for change in public education, the climate crisis and global poverty. Doerr serves on the board of Breakthrough Energy Ventures and ONE.org.
