From the earliest days of circus - rudimentary equestrian stunts performed in a large ring with clowns entertaining the audience in between acts, to the modern-day Cirque Du Soleil and soon defunct, Ringling Brothers - circus culture and lore has always been curious and spell binding to those outside the ring. Today's use of circus as a tool for social change is not a new concept, rather, it has been repackaged, relabeled and made accessible to a larger population of at-risk youth around the world through more structured social projects. The performers featured in Without A Net provide a case study to examine the longer term effects of circus training and performance for the individuals, their families, and their communities over the decade that has followed.
