TED Conversations is provided as a public service to promote the spread of good ideas worldwide. It welcomes anyone willing to join us in this pursuit, and to follow these terms of use.
- Anyone who wants to participate in mature, constructive conversation with the TED community is welcome to start a conversation or join one as a commenter. Please keep in mind that, as your host, TED asks that you maintain the same standards of civility and respect required at TED conferences. Behavior which would be unacceptable at a TED conference is also unacceptable on TED.com.
- In the aim of keeping TED conversations civil and constructive, we will remove comments which criticize the physical appearance or mental capacities of others, or which constitute harassment or stalking of others. Threats or implications of violence towards any individual or group, as well as repeatedly posting misleading implications or false claims that any individual or group promotes hatred or unlawful violence, will result in account removal.
- New conversation topics must be relevant to the goals of the TED community, and must be of interest to the community as a whole. Whenever possible, members should use an existing conversation topic to discuss similar ideas, rather than creating a new conversation.
- Good spelling and grammar promote good conversation; please refrain from using "txtspk" or using the CAPS LOCK key.
- TED is seeking to foster a grown-up conversation about ideas that matter. When conversing with other members, engage in a reasoned exchange of ideas -- avoiding flaming, name-calling, obscenities and insults. Humor, of course, is welcome.
- Respect the privacy and wishes of other members. Do not pester them, game them or spam them in any way.
- Respect the law. Do not attempt to engage in illegal behavior of any sort, including the posting of copyrighted material. If you observe another commenter behaving inappropriately, please tell us.
- TED reserves the right to remove any conversations, comments or content from the site, for any reason and without prior warning.
- If you violate these terms, or otherwise act disrespectfully, disruptively or illegally on TED.com, we reserve the right to terminate your membership, at any time, and without prior warning.
- All conversations are covered by TED's Creative Commons 3.0 (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives) license. Participants are free to share conversations (e.g., in a classroom or on their own websites), so long as they conform to the Creative Commons 3.0 terms: attribute the conversation; noncommercial use only; and no derivative works.
