Theme: Resettling in RVA

This event occurred on
October 26, 2017
Richmond, Virginia
United States

Almost daily the news reports on atrocities around the globe that force thousands of people to abandon homes they’ve known their entire lives, risking everything for survival to consequently become refugees. While this may seem like an issue that does not directly affect our community, what you may not realize is that we accept and resettle refugees right here in Richmond, VA.

At this month’s salon, we will explore the journey of refugees to our city and consider how each of us can help this ever-growing population. Where are they coming from? What resources currently exist to meet their needs? How can we create a more welcoming environment? How do we empower these new residents to thrive as valuable contributors to society?

Join us at Impact Makers on October 26, 2017 to explore these questions and more. Doors open at 6pm and the event begins promptly at 6:30pm. Although registration is required, admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis so please arrive early as seating is limited!
