In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amelia Hunter

Actor, Feminist & Advocate (for survivors of sexual assault)
Amelia has been involved in both film, theatre as well as her own written/devised performance throughout high school and into her young adult life. Amelia had the opportunity to study in Los Angeles on a scholarship with the Hollywood Immersive program in 2011. Amelia is currently studying at 16th St Actors Studio in Melbourne. Amelia's talk will cover the topics of feminism, consent & empathy.

Bastian Merson

Queer Youth Ambassador
Bastian Merson is 18 years old and is currently studying Visual Arts at RMIT University. He enjoys making music and has been performing acoustically across the Mornington Peninsula since 2013. Bastian also identifies as transgender/transmasculine and feels privileged to be able to share his experience gained through his role as a queer youth ambassador for Headspace at events such as TEDxYouth@PaduaCollege.

Georgia Smith

Med Student
Georgia is a past Paduan who seems to find any excuse she can to come back and chat. Now a second year Medical Student at Monash University, Georgia is a big-word enthusiast and over-empathiser who requires daily doses of watercolour and sunshine dappling to balance out her regular cadaver explorations. Georgia is incredibly excited to be part of this awesome event and can’t wait to discuss the dangers of ignorance and value of information aficionados in ‘the face of tomorrow’.

Tasneem Chopra

Cross Cultural Consultant, Author & Activist
A Cross Cultural Consultant, author & activist, Tasneem has made identity her business. How we are - affects who we are. Tasneem's passion for addressing social justice as a vehicle for shaping identity has seen her discuss the way identity is negotiated through racism, diversity and leadership. She has presented to varied audiences, from Supreme Court judges to journalists to kindergarten teachers. Born in Kenya, raised in Bendigo, and now a die-hard Melburnian - Tasneem believes there's a difference between the hyphens we use to define each other versus the labels.

Timothy Thomaidis

Global Citizen
Timothy describes himself as an inquisitive, determined and open-minded individual and has taken an active role in the community surrounding areas such as social justice and peer facilitation. Timothy is a past Padua student and is currently entering his final year of a Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of International Development at La Trobe University. During his time at Padua, Timothy took part in the East Timor Immersion and continued on to establish the Canossa Shop. Timothy has travelled to Paris and Japan to facilitate workshops with UNESCO and Osaka YMCA respectively, which has led him to pursue a hobby he refers to as ‘accidental travelling’, giving him the chance to experience various cultures and differing perspectives. Additionally, Timothy recently returned from the Philippines conducting research amongst indigenous communities of the Cordillera.
