Euphonik A Capella

The Best Buddies Friends Choir

Tanner McClellan is a junior studying Kinesiology & Health and minoring in Special Education. During her freshman year at Miami University, she created the Best Buddies Friends Choir. The Best Buddies Friends Choir is the only one of it’s kind in the Country, and it is an entirely inclusive choir for adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Ann Fuehrer

Dr. Fuehrer earned her Ph.D. in Social and Organizational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her scholarship and activism focus on applying feminist principles to the work of non-profit community agencies. She has served as the Director of the Women’s Studies Program at Miami, and was named Distinguished Educator in the College of Arts and Science in 2006.

Bob De Schutter

Dr. De Schutter has served industry as an independent consultant, graphic designer, developer and entrepreneur, is a lifetime member of the International Game Developers Association, and has founded and chaired the Gerontoludic Society as well as the Flemish chapter of the Digital Games Research Association. Prior to joining Miami University, Bob was a researcher and lead designer for the e-Media Lab of the KU Leuven (campus Group T). He has worked on games to facilitate inter-generational knowledge transfer, rehabilitate psycho-motor skills, train entrepreneurial skills, sensitize university students on urban mobility for the disabled, teach the psychology of game design, etc.

Colleen Bunn

Colleen Bunn is an Assistant Director of Residence Life here at Miami University. She previously spent 4.5 years at Connecticut College, serving as an Area Coordinator and advisor to the student run Women’s Center. She graduated from Dickinson College with a BA in English and Theatre Arts in 2004 and Shippensburg University with an MS in Counseling-College Student Personnel in 2007. At Miami, she is the advisor to F-Word (Feminists Working on Real Democracy) and will be starting as a doctoral student in the Educational Leadership program in Fall 2015. Colleen hails from Northeastern PA and is looking forward to getting back to her public speaking roots through TEDx. She is a passionate activist and feminist and believes that student affairs is her calling. She is running her first half-marathon in May. She currently lives in Oxford with her husband, Matthew, and their many fish.

Glenn Platt

Dr. Platt has been Director of Miami University’s Interactive Media Studies Program since 2000 and founded the Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media Studies. He is President Emeritus of the International Digital Media and Arts Association and along with his colleague Prof. Lage, coined the phrase “inverted classroom” with a 2000 seminal work outlining the benefits of using technology to move active learning into the classroom and lecture outside of class. His 2012 SXSW presentation with Peg Faimon has helped frame the conversation around the future of higher education. He has won a variety of teaching awards from the students, the school of business, and the university. He received his Bachelor of Arts from University of Florida and his MS and PhD from Carnegie Mellon University.

Robb Enzmann

Robb is a senior at Miami University, planning to graduate with a B.A. in Music and a B.A. in Mathematics this coming May, and will attend Miami’s graduate school to pursue an M.A. in mathematics starting in August. Robb is a passionate lover of music and technology, and blends the two as a professional music editor for figure skaters across the country. He originally came to Miami to study piano, but after taking a course in the history of mathematics his junior year, he gained a new perspective of math and picked up the double major. For his math capstone, he chose to study the Golden Ratio, since there were rumors that it could be found in the compositional structure of some music. To his dismay, most music, art, body proportions, architecture, and other things pertaining to aesthetics were completely devoid of the Golden Ratio.

Rod Northcutt

Rod Northcutt a social sculptor and associate professor of sculpture at Miami University Ohio. He received his MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, a BFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of North Texas, and he joined Miami in 2009. He has exhibited and performed internationally, designing interactive projects that generate community dialog through making-based practice. He co-founded and co-directs the non-profit MAKETANK, Inc., which administers the Oxford Kinetics Festival and develops multiple year round educational initiatives designed to enhance community STEM education using the techniques and methods of sculpture and design thinking.

Shamika Karikari

I love hugs. My husband is my best friend. I care about creating a society where people are treated with dignity & respect. Baking is my therapy. I value storytelling. I get energy from being around people. Conversations with friends are life giving to me. Writing is freeing. I believe in vulnerability. I am on a journey to be the most authentic version of myself.

Stephanie Baer

Dr. Baer’s research interests are in pre-service teacher education, teacher confidence and fear, care in the classroom, and technology in teaching and learning. Baer has taught at the K-12 and post-secondary levels since 2004. She has published several articles and won awards for both her research and teaching. She is excited and humbled to be included in TEDxMiamiUniversity. Website: drbaer.weebly.com

Wilson Okello

Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, he attended Youngstown State University where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education. Wilson attended the University of Rhode Island, where he earned his Master’s of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies—College Student Personnel. Currently, he serves as a First Year Adviser and Resident Director at Miami University where focuses on assisting and inspiring youth and college learners to not only achieve educationally but also to develop as authentic leaders in their professional work, families and communities. Fundamental to his work is reinforcing the fact that one’s presence, position, and voice are both legitimate and relevant. Among his most recent accomplishments, the University of Rhode Island recognized him with the 2014 Rising Star Award, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) named him the 2013 IV East Outstanding New Professional.
