In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Annott

Christiaan Triebert

Christiaan is a student of International Relations at the University of Groningen.You might also know him for his photoblog project Humans of Groningen featuring street portraits and interviews collected in Groningen. As a contrast to his work in this idyllic and peaceful student city, Christiaan also documents the stories of witnesses in civil conflicts in the Ukraine and Syria.

Ivanka Annott

Ivanka is one of the initiators of the free cafe in Groningen and a truly committed person. After finishing her studies at the Minerva Art Academy, she and other like-minded art students started to work on an idea that evolved into the concept of the Free Café.

Maia Elliott

Maia is a medicine student, a science fanatic and a passionate speaker, who creates inspiring stories out of highly scientific topics. Besides researching in the field of leukemia therapy, she is also active as a STEM ambassador and has already shared some of her stories at the NEMO Science Museum and the British Science Festival.

Maia Elliott is a molecular cell biology student, a STEM ambassador and a passionate speaker, who shares her excitement for human genetics by translating the complex science into engaging stories.

Simon Waslander

Simon is not only a medicine student at the University of Groningen, but also the Co-founder and CEO of ForesightInvestor.com, a financial research platform with in-depth analysis of financial topics and products. Besides writing research papers about numerous financial topics, Simon is investigating the important question of how to improve the health of people. He will present us a solution to this problem that is both brilliant and unexpected.

Trudy Dehue

Trudy Dehue, professor of history and philosophy of science at the department of psychology, of the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on the relationship between science and society, on the “makeable psyche”, and on the history of scientific practice in psychology.
