When making goals, many of us are motivated by our insecurities. We allow what we see as our imperfections determine what we need to change about ourselves. What if instead we were motivated by self-love and because we wanted to expand on our inherent value? We struggle with eating disorders, depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. Tyler Kingsbury believes that these issues can be driven and/or made worse by an irrational desire to seek perfection. She welcomes you to try a simple tool that acts as a standing point from which to build relevant goals based on what you care about. These goals are independent of the pressure to be perfect. If we can shift our focus and start to pay attention to loving ourselves, we can start to combat negative self-talk and manifest more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
