Changing perspectives - my path to self-determination

Stefan Utz’s life is determined by barriers. Due to his handicap he depends on his wheelchair. But most barriers aren’t things like stairs or inaccessible areas in general. Most disruptive for him are the attitudes of the people around him. People were and still are preoccupied. Stefan wants to dismantle those prejudices and at the same time he wants to question the way how we perceive and behave towards handicapped people. Stefan Utz is a passionate international Electric Wheelchair Hockey player from Germany. He was chair of the organizational committee of the 2014 World Championships. He also works for an association, to consults café and restaurant owners, to help them create their places without barriers. Stefan advices other people with handicaps at the Volkshochschule Munich. He gives all these insights, not to show that he is special, but to show that he is an ordinary man like everyone else.
