The sudden outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the year of 2020 accelerated the overall digitalization of society and raised awareness about the elderlies’ predicaments in the age of information. Lu Shiyu from Tencent Research Institute has been engaged in social research related to digital technologies, including their employment by senior citizens, people with disabilities, and children, etc, and has been committed to introducing a “human’s perspective” to technological developments. The survey report “The Realm of Filial Piety: Senior’s WeChat Experience and Familial Support on WeChat Usage” published collaboratively by Tencent Research Institute and Shenzhen University in the year of 2018 appeals to all sectors of society to increase awareness of seniors’ experience with the day-to-day usage and integration of digital technologies. This time, Lu Shiyu presents the stories and the voice of elderlies belonging to different social groups which she has learned from several field studies and laboratory studies. She seeks to enhance the audience’s understanding and acceptance of old age, increase their incentives to support the seniors in their own family and beyond, and provide a better digital environment for everyone’s future or current old age.
