Kalaripayattu (or Kalari) is an ancient Indian martial art that includes strikes, kicks,
grappling, preset forms, weaponry and healing methods. The performance starts with a Kalari Vandanam. Kalari Vandanam is nothing but a salute to the Earth, Sun, Sky, Guru, Ganesha and Shiva, a succession of steps surrounding the four cardinal directions, ending with salutations to the Master. The rituals protect practitioners from injury, help to develop a devotional attitude, and contribute to the student’s transformation. Kalari Vandanam will be followed by 2 small solo Kalari choreographies
by the performers.

Contemporary Performance: Harvest
Two bodies in space. The long process of coming together, interacting, reacting, expressing, changing, affecting and of course the hardest part is waiting. It is indeed the process that counts. The process, affected by the culture and its uniqueness. The process to experience the harvest
