Today in America, there is an overwhelming public consensus on most issues but political leaders have highly polarized views on the same ones.
This brings up the question of how to get things done in a highly polarized situation but former Governor of Massachusetts, Mike Dukakis, tells of how he learnt the answer to that question. Dukakis narrates personal anecdotes on how 'consensus building' or the art of uniting people to find solutions, was helpful to his administration when he served as the Governor of Massachusetts. Dukakis shares his experience of 'consensus building' that is not only possible but also the need of the hour in today's highly polarized atmosphere.
In the talk, the former governor also speaks about why consensus building is required in the public office and how it can be achieved by political leadership.
