The Job We All Have, But Fail To Do

Mary’s speech centres on the subject which we all know about, but never like to speak about; Student Suicide. The achievement - oriented and competition - driven nature of Hong Kong Society, and even Asia at large, has bred a culture of bystanders. It’s seems like the sense of community is lost. Mary’s speech encourages each one of us to be our neighbour’s keeper, and, our own simultaneously. To not ignore signs of depression or suicide that may be given from our peers, but also, to not be afraid to ask for help ourselves. To find that sense of community once again.
