Ressignificando a Religião
Fellipe dos Anjos |
TEDxBlumenau
• April 2018
How could religion represent violence? To understand the complexity of issues like this, we must escape from prejudice and draw a more paradoxical and ambiguous notion of religion. In this talk, Fellipe dos Anjos proposes that we reimagine and rethink religion beyond its relations with the hegemonic institutional and political powers that on many occasions have used religious narratives as a form of domination, control, and violence. Dos Anjos causes us to experience religion as a power to live. It summons us to an immersion in the daily life of human experiences where we can capture religion as an ecstatic, affective, creative and plural phenomenon that inspires and touches people and their ways of living, inhabiting, loving and giving meaning to the world. Here is the paradox: if religion has historically constituted power over life, coercion and institutional violence against freedoms, in contrast, it can also operate as a living power, vitality and energy that propels people and religious communities to the creation of a world where plurality and diversity are recognized, affirmed and desired. Where radical love mobilizes us to welcome the other in its singularities and plural beauties, with generosity and respect.
