Dr. David Zaber is a private environmental consultant working in the fields of sustainable natural resources and agricultural management. Dr. Zaber received his Ph.D. in Resource Ecology and Management from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and Environment. The science of human behavioral ecology helps us to understand resource use conflicts. In this talk, he stresses how Human perception is evolved and how certain aspects can lead people to pay less attention to relevant environmental problems and threats and these tendencies often mesh with patterns of environmental impacts in ways that impede reaching consensus and solutions. He suggests that Bridging this "Perception Gap" can provide a template for environmental activism and protection.
