Dennis Ittenbach:
The typical cancer treatment regimen often leaves cancer survivors without support at their most vulnerable time...when their treatment is over, and the "come back in three to six months" message is shared. How can cancer treatment evolve to understand that there is a cancer "recovery" period after "treatment" has ended, when survivors may be in their weakest and most vulnerable state. This Talk addresses the need for after-treatment cancer care and therapies to help cancer survivors understand and focus on their post-cancer-treatment lives, where the need to understand and address cancer-related diseases, including lymphedema, can mean the difference between moving from a cancer survivor to a cancer thriver!
Dennis has been practicing physical therapy for over 25 years with a specialty in working with Cancer, lymphedema, and complex medical patients across the full continuum of healthcare.
Dennis has lived in Hilton Head for 15 years maintaining his specialty in Cancer and is Board Certified in Lymphedema treatment.
In 2017, Dennis started the H.O.P.E. Life, Lymphedema and Rehab Center; the only private practice clinic in the southeast specializing in Physical Therapy Services for Cancer/Lymphedema patients.
Dennis also founded the HOPE Life Cancer Recovery Fund, the not-for-profit arm offering ongoing wellness services for Cancer.
