About this event
Seldom do two independent concepts connect as well as Fulbright and TEDx. The Fulbright Scholarship Program nurtures mutual understanding and respect across cultures by the exchange of compassionate, socially aware individuals, serving as ambassadors across all fields of professional engagement. TEDx, similarly, has shown immense promise in furthering ideas for the benefit of all societies in a way that is both personable (revolutionary story-telling) and powerful (demonstrating incredible feats of intellect, creativity, and collaboration). It is our continuing wish to provide Fulbright alumni with a TEDx framework to most effectively excite and gather others to join efforts in working for the sake of humanity's progress.
“We must dare to THINK”
Senator Fulbright's words cast the stage for this event, welcoming 425 alumni, current grantees, and friends to the nation's capital to brainstorm on social innovation, stimulate rich conversation, and connect deeply through a shared commitment to the Fulbright Vision. The day will showcase profound stories and remarkable ideas by Fulbrighters through 9-18-minute talks and interaction. Confirmed speakers are regularly updated on the website: http://www.tedxfulbright.org/washington-dc-2014/.
Throughout the day, lively networking activities will inspire exchange across disciplines and cultures. The Experience Lab will further allow participants to dive deep into the program with interactive exhibits and demonstrations. The Fulbright Social Innovation Challenge will also conclude during the event with the final, live pitch session and audience voting.
The US Chamber of Commerce is located on historic Lafayette Square, mere steps away from the White House's North Lawn. Speakers will present in the building's grand Hall of Flags, named for the banners of twelve great explorers of North America. The event's interactive and social sessions will be held in the building's former open air courtyard, whose well-lit and airy layout encourages free thought and communication.
A live webcast will be available exclusively during the event, April 5 9:30-18:00 EST. For Fulbright communities around the world, we encourage you to contact us for support in coordinating a local event and connecting in real time with participants of the Washington, DC program! Please email 2014@TEDxFulbright.org to start the conversation.
