If you had the chance to attend one of our previous Salon events, you know that you’re in for a treat. On April 18, we beckon you to to escape your regular routine and go on a mini TEDx journey with 200 smart and curious friends.

TEDxSacramento Salons are intimate TEDx events, packed with compelling content, live music, good food and beverages, and smart conversation. It’s community to the power of “x.” Salons are just a fraction of the day, but the whole heart of our annual TEDx events.

Join us as we enjoy both LIVE talks and hand-selected TEDTalks to act as your muse for the morning (week, month, life..?). Scrumptious eats and drinks will be provided to fuel your appetite and tease your taste buds. Last, but not least, your people will be there!

For our attendees, TEDxSacramento is a chance to “check out” from the day-to-day routine and go on an intellectual journey with hundreds smart and curious friends to a world filled with brilliant speakers, captivating performances, amazing new technology, and thought-provoking TEDTalks. Our next event is June 28.

About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The annual TED Conference takes place in Long Beach, California, with simulcast in Palm Springs; TEDGlobal is held each year in Oxford, UK. TED's media initiatives include, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. About TEDxSacramento
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDxSacramento, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxSacramento event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Liz Salmi

Liz began blogging about her brain cancer experience immediately after diagnosis. now receives more than 12,000 unique visitors each year, and Liz is using social media to connect with the brain tumor community around the world. In 2012 Liz lobbied Congress on the Cancer Drug Parity Act and was appointed as the California Lead Advocate for the National Brain Tumor Society. Liz serves on the UC Davis Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Advisory Board and the medical advisory board for the National Brain Tumor Society. When she's not talking about brain cancer, Liz is a digital media communicator and community organizer for a nonprofit focused on growing green jobs in the Sacramento region

Patti Dobrowolski, author of DRAWING SOLUTIONS: How Visual Goal Setting Will Change Your Life is the founder of Up Your Creative Genius, a consulting firm that uses visuals and creative processes to help companies and individuals around the world accelerate growth and change. A critically acclaimed comic performer, internationally recognized keynote speaker, writer and business consultant, she has brought her innovative visual practices to NGOs, Fortune 500 companies, small businesses and individuals around the world.
