  • Aida Muluneh
    Aida is the Founder and Director of DESTA (Developing and Educating Society Through Art) For Africa in Addis Ababa. Born in Ethiopia in 1974, Aïda left the country at a young age and spent an itinerant childhood between Yemen and England. After several years in a boarding school in Cyprus, she finally settled in Canada in 1985. In 2000, she graduated with a degree from the Communication Department with a major in film from Howard University in Washington, D.C. After graduation she worked as a photojournalist at the Washington Post and other publications. As an exhibiting artist, a collection of her images can be found in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art and the Museum of Biblical Art in the United State. She is the 2007 recipient of the European Union Prize in the Rencontres Africaines de la Photographie in Bamako, Mali, as well as the 2010 winner of the CRAF International Award of Photography in Spilimbergo,Italy. Aïda is the founder and director of the first international photography festival in Ethiopia, the Addis Foto Fest. She continues to curate and develop cultural projects with local and international institutions through her company DESTA. Talk Title- “Preserving the past, promoting the future through photography”
  • Sileshi Demissie(Gash Abera Mola)
    Seleshi Demissie (Gash Abera Mola)- (Musician) is one of the iconic Ethiopian public figures who is also environmental activist. He has a unique music style and talent that made him popular. When he started to bring a new image of the capital, Addis Ababa, he opened a project which was called Gash Abera Molla, now named “Gash Abera Molla Environment & Development Association“. His organization works on various volunteer works in the country and also has wan some international awards.
  • Daniel Asres
    Daniel Asres (Educator) is an Ethiopian- American, born and raised in Los Angeles California. He has a BA in Sociology and Education and has been working in the field of Education for 15 years. He recently moved to Ethiopia and is looking forward to work on the impact of educational process as it begins to satisfy the growing needs of the children of the vastly growing community of Addis Ababa and Ethiopia overall. Talk Title- “Shifting Paradigm of Education in Ethiopia”
  • Beate Wedekind
    Beate Wedekind (German journalist and entrepreneur) is founder of the media brand TheNewAfrica, a Journal of Perspectives and Inspiration, a startup dedicated to the young people behind progress Made in Africa. Its goal is to put these aspiring achievers on the international agenda, to build new alliances and create sustainable partnerships. TheNewAfrica focuses on perspectives and opportunities, talents and potentials, on contemporary culture and on a lifestyle that is responsible towards the community of people. TheNewAfrica is a scheme of online and print media and of special events. The website will be launched in October 2013. Talk Title- “Fresh Viewpoint on Africa “
  • Arnold Buoro
    Arnold Buoro (Kenyan Multiculturalist) heads the International Relations of EiABC (Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development) and Country Director of AIESEC in Ethiopia. A believer of developing youth talent for impactful business across emerging markets for the demands of the field and that will help it to grow for youth by youth. As President of AIESEC in Ethiopia, he is currently leading a national executive team of 7 individuals of 4 nationalities (Togo, Ghana, Indonesia & Ethiopia), based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He develops strategy that affects global and national operations and guides the youth 300 Ethiopian leaders of the AIESEC in Ethiopia and connects with a network of more than 100,000 young people.   • Dr. Dawit Wondimagegn
    (psychiatrist)- works in Addis Ababa. He spent 3 months in Edinburgh at the end of 2008, as Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre of African Studies. He is currently working on a project to narrow the gap between traditional healing methods especially used around Ethiopian Orthodox Church using prayer and holy water with scientific methods that use the general approach of psychiatric evaluation, advice and application of medicine.   • Dr Mehret Debebe
    Dr Mehret Debebe is a Board Certified Consultant Psychiatrist and author of ‘yeteqolefebet qulf’ meaning ‘the locked in key’ – which through a web of stories narrates the significance of the mind in making or breaking the life of individuals, families, relationships, businesses and even a nation. He completed his medical education at the Medical Faculty of Addis Ababa University. After moving to the United States he undertook a four year specialty training in Psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology of St Louis University School of Medicine, where he was a Chief Resident during his final year. He has since then been practicing in different Psychiatric Hospitals and Mental Health Centers in the US USA 2008.
