On May 25, 2013, we will be holding the third TEDxChisinau conference in Moldova.

TEDxChisinau: Postcards from the Future will consist of research lectures, technology demonstrations, arts performances, and world-changing ideas from the future brought together in a full-day conference.

This year we have prepared over eighteen new revolutionary ideas in areas such as medicine, law, business, science, communication, education, and arts delivered by pioneers in the field, from our country and abroad.

TEDxChisinau: Postcards from the Future will take place on May 25, Saturday, from 9:00 to 18:00 and will include four sessions of speeches broken up by coffee breaks for socializing and networking and a break for lunch.

MARIAN UNGUR

Marian is a pianist and composer. He graduated the College of Music “Ștefan Neaga” and is currently studying at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chişinău. He participated with his own compositions at several national and international competitions. Owns the Municipal youth prize in musical arts. He composed a song dedicated to maestro Eugen Doga, entitled “Dor de…”. Marian wrote sountracks for the theatre show “Mitică-i omul nostru” directed by Alina Țurcan.

OLEG JURUC

Oleg is a 25 years old moldovan who’s dream came true: he is an artist at Cirque du Soleil, a Canadian entertainment company, self-described as a dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment. Their shows are well known in the whole world and have received numerous prizes and distinctions, even a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Oleg left Moldova at 17, after graduating the high school. He learned his first circus experiences from his uncle. Now Oleg leaves in Las Vegas, but he travels a lot, fascinating the audience with his performance.

GHEORGHE ERIZANU

Gheorghe was born on June 8, 1967 in Cigârleni, Ialoveni. Bachelor of Journalism Faculty of the State University of Moldova. Director of „ Editura Cartier”. He debuted in 1995 with the volume of reports „Orange book” and then „What do the books tell”.

ADRIAN CREŢU

Biomedical engineer at a private clinic in Chișinău and researcher in genetics. Member of European Society of Human Genetics. After graduating the University of Medicine in Iași, Romania, he decided to return home and to implement the innovations discovered in Europe. Adrian helped authorities to identify several crimes after their genetic profile. Now, he helps couples with reproductive disorders to fulfill the dream of having children. Adrian love sharing the secrets of genetics to medical university students and is confident that the future is closely linked to human chromosomes.

OLGA RADU

Graduated ASEM and Grenoble School of Business. Worked in advertising in France and USA. In 2004 founded ”Casa Imago”, a company that bring simple, but unique ideas, which generate the prospective result. Olga believes in social involvement and responsibility, things that can make the difference in this world.

BEATRICE CASAGRANDE

Beatrice is Marketing Manager at Mars One, a foundation whose goal is to send humanity to Mars in 2023. The whole world will be the audience of an interactive, televised broadcast of every aspect of this mission, from the astronaut selections and their preparations to the arrival on Mars and their lives on the Red Planet. Before landing on Mars One, Beatrice was involved in many projects and refined her interest in ecology and sustainability. At Mars One she has the opportunity to embrace new interesting challenges.

IULIAN GULEA

When I was little, my dream was to become a constructor and to build huge, wonderful buildings. Then I grew up and my interest in construction was lost, but the desire to create stayed with me. And thus I became a trainer. Trainings that I create now help people rediscover themselves and learn interesting things. Besides that, I love almonds, books, good music and neuroscience

ION STURZA

A successful moldovan businessman. Over the period since 1977 till present Mr. Ion Sturza was director, manager, chairman in different companies. Is currently Founder and Chairman of the Board of the investment group “GreenLight Invest”, with presence in several countries in Europe, with extending business in private equity. Also, is founder and honorary chairman of the charity fund “Foundation Family Sturza”, with the charitable activities in the field of Education, social and cultural programs. Mr. Sturza is co-founder and President of the Foreign Policy Association of Moldova (APE), a leader in community of experts in “Foreign Policy Issues”. More, he is known as a past Minister of Economy and Prime Minister of The Republic of Moldova.

ANA MUNTEANU

Ana Munteanu is a talented painter in love with the art of drawing in the sand. In addition to being a lecturer at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chisinau, she participates with her paintings at national and international exhibitions, as well as owns works in private collections in Ukraine, Romania, Czech Republic and USA. Ana participated with her sand-art shows at several concerts and performances, and in 2013 came finalist in the “Românii au talent” contest by PRO TV Romania.

RAED ARAFAT

Raed Arafat is a Palestinian doctor that lives in Romania for more than 30 years. Emergency medicine was his great passion since childhood. He decided to set up a public emergency intervention system (SMURD) at amazing standards that saves everyday hundreds of lives. Starting with just an ambulance car, he arrived this year to buy an airplane in order to transport the patients in a very sensitive health condition. Decorated by two presidents of Romania with the Order of Merit and by the former King Michael I of Romania with the royal decoration.

TUDOR CHIRILĂ

Actor, musician, composer and producer. He performed in 13 theater plays and won the UNITER award becoming the youngest actor to win it until that moment. Founder and lead singer of one of the most popular rock bands in Romania, Vama. He wrote over 80 songs and performed in front of millions of people during his 14 years of musical career. Apart from acting and singing, Tudor Chirilă initiated and supported various social campaigns and cultural projects.

TONY HAWKS

Tony Hawks is a TV and radio comedian and bestselling author. He is the author of the bestseller Round Ireland with a Fridge and four other books, including Playing the Moldovans at Tennis, serialised on BBC R4, shortlisted for both the Samuel Johnson Prize (2000) and the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize (2000). Tony is the founder of the Tony Hawks Centre, Chișinău – a medical centre for children with cerebral palsy. He is also the co-founder and a trustee ofwww.tennisforfree.com which provides free tennis coaching to communities in the UK’s public parks.

ANDRE MANOEL

André started working with the Internet when it was first made available to the public in Brazil through Insite, the company he founded at 19 with colleagues in the engineering school. He took part in dozens of big projects before focusing on Artificial Intelligence applications. In 2012 he organized TEDxFGV for Fundação Getulio Vargas, the most prestigious business school in the country.

IGOR GUZUN

It’s been 6 years since I have created the agency „URMA ta”, to help people and institutions to communicate, and over a year since we have foundedwww.stiripozitive.eu. 10 years of working at „Săptămâna” newspaper, 12 years of professorship at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences, State University of Moldova, 11 written books, including “The Man, especially” and “Handbook of Journalism in times of crisis”. There are 11 countries where I went as a reporter, including Japan, China and Albania. And the story of numbers goes on…

GEORGE TEODORESCU

Born in Brașov, George Teodorescu emigrated to the United States with his family at age 12. He graduated from Binghamton University with a degree in International Relations and Spanish, and later studied law at Syracuse University and Columbia. He is admitted as a lawyer in New York, and specializes in international commercial arbitration. In 2009 George relocated to Chișinău, where he manages the local office of the law firm of Vernon David & Associates.

SASHA LEAHOVCENCO

Sasha Leahovcenco is a photographer. His commitment to the art of photography is the result of his life, of things he’s seen and heard, of places he’s been to and the people he met. Born in Moldova, he graduated from Fresno Pacific University with BA in Business Administration. Sasha and his brother-in-law Ross started You+We Photography, an international wedding photography firm. Some of the recent projects that Sasha has done were spread all over the world, starting with Chukotka to Haiti and Uganda. He currently resides in Sacramento, California, and continues to travel the world in his journey of exploration of the art of photography.
