A group of youth is organizing TEDxKathmandu, bringing together some of Nepalʼs respected and recognized innovators, artists, entrepreneurs and social activists to present their ideas worth spreading. Our next event entitled Nepal 2030: Innovation, Change and Sustainability will take place in July 28, 2012 in Kathmandu. The TED conference is a yearly gathering of extraordinary individuals passionate about the power of ideas. Thinkers and storytellers explain their passion to a captivated audience and all talks are recorded and made available for free online. TEDTalks range in topic from the philosophy of happiness, to solutions to the global energy crisis, to education reform, to musical, poetic and dance performances. The quality of ideas expressed is such that each of these videos posted on TED website has stupendous viewing numbers. (See more at www.ted.com) Four years ago, TED started a program called TEDx. A TEDx event is an independently organized, licensed program that brings people in communities together to share a TED-like experience. With the advent of TEDx events, audiences around the world have been gathering for deep discussion about ideas. TEDxKathmandu is returning to Nepal in 2012. This year, we are inviting Nepal's leading and promising innovators, artists and entrepreneurs to present their future vision of Nepal. Amid all the negative vibes/energies floating around the country, we want TEDxKathmandu's July 28 event to be a day to get together and share nteresting ideas/inspiration/optimism and be hopeful of a promising future for Nepal.
