About this event

As one of the world’s leading research universities, New York University hosts an amazing roster of highly intelligent, vastly inquisitive Students, Faculty, and Alumni throughout its global network. Each is a thought-leader in his or her own right, and with TEDxNYU we brought them together to share ideas, insights and inspiration.

Confirmed Speakers

  • David Burstein
David D. Burstein, 23, is a writer, filmmaker, and advocate. He is the Executive Director of Generation18, which he founded in 2006. Generation18 is the nation’s largest youth run nonpartisan not-for-profit young voter engagement organization. His debut book, Fast Future: How the Millennials are Shaping Our World will be released in February 2013 by Beacon Press.
  • Christopher Bradley
Chris was born in Rome, Italy and was raised traveling back and forth between Italy, France, San Francisco and Hawaii. He was awarded a B.A. in Neuroscience and Cell Biology, with a Minor in Cognitive Science from Rutgers University and he will be completing his MS in Computer Science at NYU-Poly in the Spring. When he isn’t busy programming or studying the complexity of merge-sort algorithms, Chris is CEO of Synthetic Biosystems, Inc.
  • Peter Rajsingh
Peter Rajsingh has taught at NYU since 1991. His areas of interest are finance and social theory, corporate governance, business ethics and professional responsibility, U.S. constitutional law, and social and political philosophy. He works at an alternative asset management firm and is on the boards of a number of private companies and charitable institutions. He is also an annual visiting professor at the Reims Management School in Champagne, France.
  • AJ Smith
Classically trained on both the piano and the violin, AJ began to write music when he was 8 years old. The lyrics didn’t start coming until the age of ten, and in his late teens at a University of Virginia summer program AJ’s passion for songwriting became insatiable. Whether inking clever hip-hop rhymes or penning heart-wrenching blues melodies, AJ hopes to develop into an “any genre” pro songwriter.
