About this event
Why Occupy Melbourne?
Hear the voice from different sides.
April 2nd, Monday, 6:00pm-8:00pm
Guild Theatre, Union House, University of Melbourne
Nick was a key organiser of the Occupy Melbourne movement, leading the Media team. His focus since has also turned to new strategies to empower mass community action. He'll give an insider's account of Occupy Melbourne and discuss the future of mass community action in Australia.
Jessica Morrison is a social work lecturer at Victoria University, who attended the movement and has a strong voice for the 99%.
Collin is a true philosopher who came up with different ideas from philosophical perceptions. He has the unique idea that Occupy protest is a symbol representing social awareness.
Toby Mendelson is a PhD candidate in the department of philosophy at Melbourne University. His work is looking at the intersection between contemporary western political philosophy and ancient Indian philosophy. He has also lectured in political philosophy and globalisation and was engaged with the Occupy Melbourne movement.
