In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carmel Jud

Carmel Jud is the visionary founder and executive director of Rising International. Her entrepreneurial passion began at age 19 when she launched Carmel Jud Creative Group (CJCG), an award-winning advertising production and market research company specializing in broadcast media. "Our goal at Rising International is to empower the poorest women of the world through selling their crafts, putting money in their hands and giving them a voice. We can create a peaceful world by globally connecting with women all over the world."

Peter Laugham

Peter Laugharn assumed the Executive Director position at Firelight in July 2008. For the six years before that, Peter served as Executive Director of the Netherlands-based Bernard van Leer Foundation (BvLF), a private foundation that funds and shares knowledge about work in early childhood development and children's rights. Before taking the helm of BvLF, he served as the Foundation's Director of Programs.
