TEDxChange 2012 is a TEDx event co-organized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and TED. Convened by Melinda French Gates and hosted by Chris Anderson, TEDxChange will focus on issues surrounding global health and development. TEDxChange type events are TEDx events hosted around the live webcast of TEDxChange, and also feature local speakers. Our event is called TEDxSapporo, and is one of many TEDx events happening around the globe on April 5th that will expand on the ideas brought up at TEDxChange 2010.

Kazunori Asada

An independent scientist with two Ph.D.s (Medical Science and Media Design.) Developed the MN-128 series (digital communication equipment sold by NTT) which triggered the spread of the Internet in Japan, and established the Japanese first digital certification authority company. Established the information security technology company OPENLOOP in Sapporo in 1997 and led to listing the company on Nasdaq Japan (Osaka Stock Exchange now) in 2001 as president and CEO. And through a bio technology company in U.S., etc., he is currently working as an independent scientist who has multi-expertise: Information Technology, Cryptography, Bio Technology, Mathematics, Media Technology and Color Science. Recently, as the result of research of color science, he developed the color vision assistance tool “Chromatic Glass” and “Chromatic Vision Simulator” for color vision deficiency in 2010, and the reading assistance tool “Brighter and Bigger” for presbyopia, cataracts, and weak eyesight in 2011. These software are released free and have been downloaded more than 50,000 times around the world.

Norihiko Takeuchi

Professor at Hokkaido Information University. The former president of Hokkaido English Language Education Society. Lecturer at JICA(Japan International Cooperation Agency). The first exchange student at Hokkaido University of Education at Asahikawa on a scholarship by Ministry of Education in 1979. Studied linguistics and TEFL(Teaching English as a Foreign Language) at Southern Illinois University. Taught English at three high schools in Hokkaido. Studied TEFL at Essex University in 1992. His students won the 1st and 2nd prize at Hokkaido High School English Speech Contests. Turned to teach English at Hokkaido Information University in 2003. His special interests are the speech communication, bilingualism and e-language-learning.
