TEDxWomen is a TEDx event organized by the Paley Center that focuses on women, and women's issues. TEDxDupontCircle will bring this conversation to D.C. with a viewing party of key sessions from this year's conference with a few surprise local voices.

  • BATALÁ in Washington, DC
    Batalá in Washington, DC is an all-women percussion band whose mission is to empower women through drumming and expose communities to Brazil’s dynamic music and culture. The women of Batalá play this music on five types of drums, creating a powerful, dynamic sound that is captivating audiences in the DC area.
  • Pam Sutton and Valerie
    Pam Sutton is a songwriter, poet, bass player and mom of Valerie, age 9. Valerie is a songwriter, poet, dabbler in several musical instruments and a world-changer in training. Pam and Valerie have been making music together since Valerie was in utero.
  • Karen Zacarías
    Karen Zacarías is an award-winning playwright whose plays have been produced throughout the United States and in Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. She is the founder and artistic director of Young Playwrights’ Theater, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering literacy, dialogue and conflict resolution through playwriting in inner-city schools. Born in Mexico, Karen currently lives with her husband and three young children in Washington, DC.
