In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli

Prof. Sangiovanni- Vincentelli, graduated in 1971 in electrical engineering and computer science degree ("Dottore in Ingegneria") from the Politecnico di Milano, in 1971, has held numerous teaching positions at many Italian universities including Politecnico di Torino, Universita’ di Roma, La Sapienza, Universita’ di Roma, Tor Vergata, Universita’ di Pavia, Universita’ di Pisa, Scuola di Sant’Anna. He holds the Edgar L. and Harold H. Buttner Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley. He was a co-founder of Cadence and Synopsys, the two leading companies in the area of Electronic Design Automation. He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Italian National Science Foundation (CNR) and of many other international Advisory Boards including Bell Labs, IBM, Intel, United Technologies Corporation, COMAU, Magneti Marelli, Pirelli, BMW, Daimler-Chrysler, Fujitsu, Kawasaki Steel, Sony, ST, United Technologies Corporation and Hitachi. He is the Senior Advisor to the President and CEO of L-Elettronica, Roma, Italy. He has been advisor to the Singapore Governement for microelectronics and new ventures. He recived a great number of awards and acknowledgements, such as the worldwide 1995 Graduate Teaching Award of the IEEE (a Technical Field award for ‘inspirational teaching of graduate students’), the Aristotle Award of the Semiconductor Research Corporation (2002) and the ACM/IEEE A. Richard Newton Technical Impact Award in Electronic Design. In 2001, he was given the Kaufman Award of the Electronic Design Automation Council for pioneering contributions to EDA. In 2008, he was awarded the IEEE/RSE Wolfson James Clerk Maxwell Medal for groundbreaking contributions He is the author of over 850 papers and articles, 15 books and 3 patents in the field of technological innovation, methodologies and systems. Prof. Alberto Sangiovanni- Vincentelli is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Member of the National Academy of Engineering of the United States of America.

Luca Faloni

Luca Faloni, born in Italy in 1984, completed his undergraduate degree in Business, Economics and Finance at Bocconi University, where he graduated cum laude in 2006. During the years of university he took part in an exchange program, sponsored by Bocconi, at Wharton Business School (Pennsylvania), where he focused on finance and entrepreneurship classes. While studying in America he realized the importance of having an international background and decided to move to London to complete his studies. Here Luca obtained a Master in Management and Strategy at the London School of Economics (LSE). After an internship in a hedge fund and working in financial services consulting, he decided to go back to LSE to further specialize in one of his passions: politics and development. This helped him see problems from a different perspective. During his second Master he co-founded and sold a website and was also President of the renowned LSE Italian Association. Passionate about entrepreneurship he helped different companies to raise funding. He found the first investor for an online fashion company and helped a Ugandan coffee company in raising additional funding. Nowadays Luca works in strategy consulting for the London office of Bain & Company, across different industries.
