Theme: Watching the Future

This event occurred on
October 21, 2017
Rivas Vaciamadrid, Madrid
Spain

In recent decades, human societies have undergone a much more drastic transformation than in all their previous history. We have changed our way of working, of relating, of having fun; how we access information, how we learn, what our values are...

There is no doubt that some of these changes have been beneficial. We live longer, our lives are more comfortable and we have access to many more places and experiences than a few years ago. However, many of these transformations are having a clear cost on our planet, on the rest of the species that inhabit it and, most likely, also on ourselves. Given this situation, it is convenient to stop and reflect on whether we are going in the right direction. To balance between what we gain and what we lose, between what increases our greatness and what impoverishes us as human beings.

We want this new edition of TEDxRivasVaciamadrid to become a forum in which we can share the feelings that inspire us in the future and where we discuss some of the key issues that arise:

Are we in time to stop climate change?

What is the future of human relations in the digital age?

What diseases will we have to worry about in the coming years?

What will be the future of the arts and poetry in an increasingly technified society?
