In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dan Schlesinger is an artist, native New Yorker, and a former student at Yale College, Oxford University (where he was a Marshall Scholar) and Harvard Law School. After ten years of legal practice, Dan discovered a passion for art and began his career as an oil painter, ceramicist and illustrator. Today Dan is also celebrated by collectors around the world for his work in oils, and as the illustrator for the Japanese edition of the Harry Potter series.

Thomas Allen Harris is a filmmaker and artist whose work illuminates the human condition and the search for identity, family, and spirituality. Graduate of Harvard College and the Whitney Independent Study Program and member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Harris lectures widely on the use of media as a tool for social change. Harris founded Digital Diaspora Family Reunion, LLC (DDFR), a social engaged transmedia project that incorporates community organizing, performance, virtual gathering spaces, and storytelling.
