In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

She has made a career of speaking from the heart and is continually surprised when people want to listen. She has a collective following of over 300,000 people on her online platforms and regularly posts snippets of her poetry to her Twitter and Instagram.

Neima Ahmed is a graduate from two well-renowned Canadian universities, has taken part in community activism and global health initiatives for about ten years. Recently worked with two Canadian schools supporting locals in Uganda to have better access to entrepreneurship, education and enterprising for social change. Currently living in the Netherlands and exploring further consulting, freelance, and capacity building projects.

Shawna Snow

Shawna worked with enthusiasm as a public school science teacher in California. She earned her Master’s Degree in Global Urban Leadership and put classroom learning into action over the past two decades in urban and cross-cultural environments in the US, Europe and Africa. In 2008, she founded Stichting Reckoning, putting all her experience and expertise to use. The Amsterdam-based development specialist loves travel and literature.

Sheetal Shah

Sheetal Shah is a psychologist in practice since 1999. She specialises in the field of counselling for chronic illnesses and special target groups like commercial sex workers and victims of human trafficking. She has worked with a team to establish India’s first helpline for telephonic counselling focused on issues related to HIV/ AIDS and sexuality (the 1st of its kind in Asia-for Population Services International (PSI), Washington. Having worked with diverse populations from different countries she is well sensitised towards the cross-cultural issues that influence client - counsellor dynamics. Currently she is Head of department of Behavioral & Social Sciences at Webster University, The Netherlands and works passionately on the Bijlmer Project/Bridge 2 Hope; a research and intervention project that addresses the psycho-social and vocational needs of sexually trafficked women in the European Union.
