TEDx SabaramatiCentralJail is an effort to make the celebration of knowledge that is the essence of a TED event, accessible to the inmates of Sabarmati Jail. This event is a first of its kind in Asia. Never before has such an event been conducted in a prison for inmates and only a few have been conducted all over the world.
TEDxSabarmatiCentralJail is an opportunity for our community to reach out to those people who have done wrong and serving their time, and ensure them that though they made mistakes, they shouldn’t let those mistakes define who they are. Our theme is “HOPE” so our speakers will be talking about their experiences in life, where they too were in a downtrodden state, mentally or physically, and they fought hard and strong to overcome it. Listening to success stories will show the inmates that there still is hope for them all and also encourage them to not get tempted onto the wrong path after they are released.
