In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alexandra Probstel

Alexandra is a senior student at Munich International School, and has often been called naïve. She has an open mind to create ideas and explores innovative and unconventional ideas.

Charlotte Hérault

Although my passport is french, I was born in South Africa and have moved to France, Canada, England and Germany along the course of childhood. My multi-cultural background and the variety of languages I speak have inspired me to conduct a talk about language and translation issues that arise from being an international child. During my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, baking and reading.

Friederike Eline Weiland

4) Many do not remember our dreams; However, I remember every single one of them. I remember my first nightmare, which was when I was five years old, and I remember my last nightmare, which was last night. I am not sure if I can call myself “lucky” as some say, as I do remember my dreams in so much detail, but it has definitely allowed me to form a developed perspective and opinion regarding dreams, as I not only can use research to inform on this topic, but my personal experience. Thus, providing a unique outlook on this topic, even though we all have them. They are all divergent, depending on the individual.

Jon-Cedrick Richter

Having lived in different parts of both the US and Germany and having played a wide array of sports all across North America and Europe for many years I have gained a wide variety of experiences. I have seen how sports affect people of all types and feel like the true power and value of sports is often too easily overlooked.

Julia Muehler

I lived in the United States for more than half of my life, but my whole family is actually German. I now live in Munich, Germany where I attend Munich International School. Through all the changes I have gone through in my life, swimming has stayed constant in my life. In this international environment I was able to partake in various activities such as Model United Nations. As a young adult today I want to be able to express my concerns about the world as everyone can relate to them in some way.

Lilly Bayly

I am both American and German, and have lived in Scotland and Germany. My talk is called “Growing Up”, and deals with moving from the teenage world to the adult one. To many people my age, this transition can seem like moving to “Another World”, and definitely a new phase in their lives. Because I am currently in this phase myself, I hope to offer a new perspective on the topic.

Maitrai Lapalikar

I am an Indian born in Nagpur, India. I have spent half of my life in Mumbai, and the other half in Munich, Germany, where I am about to graduate from Munich International School’s Class of 2017.

Marleen Käsebier

Having grown up and in Germany and the United States, each environment influenced which of my characteristics were further developed and which were not. I, like most little girls, went through a “pink phase” despite having lived more on the “tom-boy” side of life: I considered letting snails crawl on my arms fun.

Mirei Ikushima

I have a deep interest in education and cultural differences, which arose from my upbringing. I have spent 10 years of my childhood in Europe and the British education, and 7 years in Japan and the national education before entering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Through the experience of spending time in two distinct cultures, I have developed my own way of interpreting the difference between English and Japanese education.

Patricia Nonnenmacher

I am German and have always lived in Germany. I went to regular German schools before going to an International School and I really appreciate the international spirit. I am very interested in current affairs, politics and history. The topic of my talk is something very close to my heart and I have done research into it for a while now. Ever since I started to become interested in it I kept taking up all the information that was related to it and so I became even more interested in it.

Stephanie Boetticher

I am now 16 year old, with both Venezuelan and German nationalities, yet all my life I've lived in Venezuela until last august I moves to Munich. Starting off when I was 13, my body changed a lot. At the same time it stopped changing, stopped growing and stopped developing. When I was 14 years old, my mom was told I would not make it past my 20's. When I was 15, I had already had more than 6 biopsies done. I went to doctors everyday, and everyday I grew sadder and got worse. I had even been to different countries to try and seek medical help. Hoping one could magically say something better. There was a time were my mental health was slowly killing me as well. An experience in a retreat changed my life. I saw myself laying on an urn and that day I forced myself to have a new way of life. I've realized how much your mental health can affect you physical health, and also how your attitude defines your life. My thinking changed and I try to be stronger everyday.

Veronica Bonifacio

I have lived in Munich for my whole life however have an Italian, Australian, as well as German background. This, together with frequent travels, has exposed me to a multicultural diversity of thought. It was actually a recent service trip to Tanzania over to summer that led to my talk topic. I was shocked into seeing the immense difference between their world and mine and upon promising myself to make a positive impact for the children I met there, I began exploring these culturally, economically and geographically diverse worlds.
