TEDxBandra is an event that will host a series of talks that strive to bring people together and create a platform where local community members can engage, interact and ideate. A mix of live, as well as pre-recorded TED talks along the lines of the theme, will be showcased. TEDxBandra provides this platform, along with the opportunity to share ideas that will give rise to change. Our hope is that the event will change the view of open-minded and curious individuals, and will inspire, connect, and shape a new world.

Boys From South Park

Music Band
Boys From South Park especially enjoy improvisational music, played with a punk jazz twist. The band performs original compositions. They like to write about ‘contemporary issues’ and so, one finds many songs with this theme in their set list. The band has an interesting formation story for it was created by the members who used to meet up and jam at Shivaji Park. They are resident artists for NSPA (Natural Street for Performing Arts) an NGO that helps and support them to do busking scenes in Mumbai.

Ajeet Khurana

A University of Texas alumnus, Ajeet Khurana has earlier founded Corpus Collosum Learning Pvt Ltd and KITS (Khurana Information and Training Systems Pvt Ltd). He also works with various incubators, accelerators, startup events (credit jose), entrepreneur clubs and social media platforms, in addition to the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN). Being the former CEO of IIT Bombay’s SINE, under Khurana, many SINE incubates had raised funds. These include communication app for schools Knit, IT security startup Wegilant and industry visit organising firm Purple Squirel.

Gautam Karajgi

Gautam Karajgi has over 15 years consulting, entrepreneurial and operations management experience in the corporate sector. Before his transition to social sector, he was heading a company that was instrumental in setting up and running an innovative milk procurement and supply platform across villages in southern India that aims to benefit more than 100’000 dairy farmers through innovative and sustainable dairy management practices. He is also credited with the setting up India’s largest citrus fruit processing plant at Nanded, Maharashtra, offering high quality Indian citrus fruit concentrate to leading international juice brands and providing market access to more than 10’000 citrus farmers. As a consultant in McKinsey & Company India, Gautam served some of leading industrial houses in South Asia helping them to drive operational efficiency and reduce carbon footprint. Gautam started his career as Senior Engineer in Kirloskar Oil Engines and worked in the shop floor and manufacturing engineering department before being nominated as core member in the dream project team under the leadership of the Chairman and given the mandate to design and setup state of the art engine manufacturing plant in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

Jas Charanjiva

Jas Charanjiva is a muralist and a self-taught artist. She now runs her own studio ‘Life on Mars’. Jas' latest venture is Kulture Shop, an art + design brand that curates and champions the best Indian Graphic Artists from around the world and prints their exclusive works on limited editions tees and art prints. She is the Co-Founder & PR Director at Kulture Shop Private Limited. The Kulture Shop showroom in Bandra (India) was deemed one of the 10 coolest places to shop on the planet in TimeOut Explorer.

Kaiesh Vohra

Kaiesh Vohra is the co-founder and CEO of Lucep, a customer experience management startup from Singapore. His company has signed global deals with blue-chip organisations, and has established partnerships with some of the world’s largest consultancies to facilitate integration into enterprise clients. Kaiesh previously served as an internal IT strategy consultant for Credit Suisse in Singapore, and for large oil and gas, and telecommunications clients across Europe with Accenture UK.

Kiran Khalap

Kiran has conducted workshops on creativity and synectics, a technique of group problem-solving, for institutions as diverse as Infosys and Bennett Coleman. Winner of the Asian Age Indo-UK Short Story writing Competition, 1995. Kiran lives with his wife Rajashree and two INDogs in Mumbai. He was inspired by J Krishnamurti, the famous philosopher of the 20th century, and taught at his school in Benaras for four years. He practices yoga and an ancient form of meditation called vipassana.

Rohit Bansal

Rohit Bansal is also a British Chevening scholar from the University of Westminster. He has undertaken short professional programs at The Times Centre for Media Studies and The European Journalism Centre, Maastricht. He was Resident Editor of The Financial Express, Editor-Business, Zee News; in Television 18. In collaboration with law firm Hammurabi & Solomon, Rohit has also advised CEOs at the intersect of policy and the media. He also served on The Editors Guild of India executive.

Rushva Parihar

Rushva Parihar is a Research Associate at UNU-MERIT. His special interests are SDG6 and SDG3. He has worked on the FP7 EU Project MNEmerge addressing the role of multinationals in the attainment of the MDG in emerging countries with the UNU-MERIT team. He is also a Research Associate at Friend In Need India (FIN), which is focused on studying pathways to SDG6. At FIN he is also a part in several action-research projects that aim to contribute to the Clean India Mission.

Shaheen Mistri

Shaheen Mistri, as a young college student, walked into the slums of Mumbai and expressed her desire to teach the less privileged children who roamed the streets.To fulfil this goal, she founded the Akanksha Foundation, a non-profit organisation working primarily in education, at the age of 20 to impact the lives of such children. Over a period of 20 years, her Akanksha Foundation, which started with just 15 children in one centre, now teaches 3,500 children in 58 centres and six schools. In the summer of 2008, she took on a leadership role at Teach For India which enlists India's most promising college graduates and young professionals to spend two years teaching in low-income schools and attempt to bridge the educational gap in the country.

Dr. Sushant is the founder & director of Quest Medical Academy, which is working towards improving medical education in India. Along with teaching the subject of Internal Medicine to students, Quest is also helping students to develop an aptitude for research. Apart from education & patient care, Dr. Shinde is the trustee of Ramvardayini Health Foundation that is helping poor patients to get proper medical care. His organisation is also working towards increasing awareness about rheumatic diseases in the community by organising health talks & seminars for patients and caretakers.

Previously, he was a Director, Global Development at XPRIZE, leading World’s first global prize that targets the problem of access to water. He had previously been associated with The World Bank advising Government of India for a $1 billion project on Water Supply and Sanitation.

Yash Bhanage

Yash Bhanage is the Co-Founder of The Bombay Canteen and recently featured in Forbes 30 under 30. Yash studied at the Institute of Hotel Management in Goa and later to Cornell University to study hospitality management.
