TEDxJaffa is back for the fifth time (!) with the theme 'Simple Smart'. This year the speakers, hand picked from an amazing group of candidates, will present innovative ideas that influence each and every one of us in our lives, and lead to a profound change in the urban environment that will create a better future in our world.

The transformative speakers will define the 'Simple Smart' concept through their personal and professional lenses from various angles such as technology, transportation, food, customer behaviour, art and more. The event will take place on July 10th, 2017 at Gesher Theater in Jaffa. It will start at 14:00 pm and beyond the fascinating, transcending talks, will include art performances, delicious appetizers, a unique networking opportunity with people from the top of the industry as well as additional delightful surprises worth the wait.

Professor of Psychology & Behavioral Economics at Duke University
Dan Ariely, James B. Duke Professor of Psychology & Behavioral Economics at Duke University, is dedicated to answering these questions and others in order to help people live more sensible – if not rational – lives. His interests span a wide range of behaviors, and his sometimes unusual experiments are consistently interesting, amusing and informative, demonstrating profound ideas that fly in the face of common wisdom. He is a founding member of the Center for Advanced Hindsight, co-creator of the film documentary (Dis)Honesty: The Truth About Lies, and a three-time New York Times bestselling author. His books include Predictably Irrational, The Upside of Irrationality, The Honest Truth About Dishonesty, Irrationally Yours, Payoff and Dollars and Sense. With over 15 years of public sector experience in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East, Guy is a business executive in the venture and technology startup space. He is a venture partner at Kuan Road Capital, a Shanghai based venture fund and the founder of 31ºNorth, a TLV based advisory firm where he works with Fortune 500 companies, cities and governments to integrate technology into their organizations. Areas of expertise include Automotive-tech, Mobility Solutions and Smart Cities. Prior to this he was an executive at Better Place Australia, the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Accor SA. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Master of Commerce (Governance) from the University of Sydney, Australia and is currently an adjunct lecturer at the Israeli College of Management teaching int'l marketing.

Hans Shakur

Strategic consultant specializing in innovation and start-ups
Hans is a pioneering entrepreneur, a tech veteran, and a leader in the Israeli high-tech scene, spearheading initiatives of economic development and fostering innovation in the Arab society in Israel. He’s heading the Arab Entrepreneurship Council, and leading 'Mobile Monday Nazareth' - the largest open tech-community platform in northern Israel. Hans is also the co-founder of 'Games For Peace'. Among his activities, Hans is serving as a director, advisor and lecturer at various startup acceleration programs and facilitating several tech-conferences and hackathons. He was recently chosen by Geektime as one of the Top 100 Influencers in the Israeli high-tech.

Michal is the CEO and Co-founder of the Natural Step Israel, and Former Chairperson and Founding member of the Israel Green Building Council (ILGBC). Adv, L.L.B. in Law, from Hebrew University of Jerusalem with clerkship at the Ministry of Justice; M.Sc. in 'Strategic Leadership Towards Sustainability', School of Engineering, Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden; PhD studies on the theme of strategic sustainable development as a vehicle to conflict resolution and the model of "Peace Parks". Neta Hanien

Co - Founder of Juha's Guesthouse
Neta was a former criminal prosecutor in the Israeli Ministry of Justice. After six years she quit her job and established "Juha's Guesthouse", a traveler's hostel and a social business developing sustainable economy in Jisr a Zarka - one of the most impoverished village in Israel. Juha's Guesthouse has been selected as the 'Best Social Business" in Israel in 2015 and has been certified by Trip Advisors traveler's choice award. Additionally, Neta was one of the winners of the Rappaport prize for "Women Generating Change".

Nitzan, B.Sc. is a chemical engineer, CEO at LivingBox and agriculture specialist. She has experience in applying technological improvements to post harvest solutions and global and food safety standards and performing research and development practices in the medical cannabis industry. She has extensive experience in planning projects and applying technological solutions for optimal growth quality and yield worldwide.

Omer Kulka

Technology marketing expert at Kornit Digital
Omer started his career in R&D and quickly transitioned towards customers and market facing roles, leveraging his technological knowledge and expertise to working with people rather than machines. In 2011 he joined Kornit Digital, a fast growing start-up tech company, focused on developing technological solutions for digital printing on textiles. Omer is leading Kornit Digital's product marketing team, responsible for defining the company's strategic technological road map and product portfolio. Omer holds a BSc in Computer Science, a BA in Philosophy and an MA in History and Philosophy of Sciences and Ideas from Tel Aviv University. Omer believes that we are on the verge of a revolution that will impact some of the most basic elements in our lives. Researching for innovative technologies he explores alternatives for changing what we wear and how it comes to be.

Oren Shoval

Co-Founder and CTO of Via
Oren Shoval is the co-founder and CTO of Via, which is re-engineering public transit, from a regulated system of rigid routes and schedules to a fully dynamic, on-demand network. Via is currently operating its platform in New York, Chicago, and Washington DC, and is also licensing its on-demand transit technology to transportation operators globally. Oren is a former consultant at McKinsey, and has spent 10 years in the Israeli Air Force developing and deploying real-time avionic systems. Oren holds a PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science where he focused on finding simplifying patterns in complex biological phenomena.

Orli Ronen

Head of the Urban Innovation and Sustainability Lab, Tel Aviv University
Orli is the head of the Urban Innovation and Sustainability Lab, at the Porter School for Environmental and Social Studies. The lab is a cooperation between the Porter school and Tel-Aviv Municipality, enabling graduate students to work directly with policy actors in local authorities, helping them use environmental data to devise new sustainability programs and policies for their local area. Previously, she headed the Heschel Center for Sustainability, one of Israel's leading environmental and social NGOs. In 2015, Dr. Ronen drafted the Tel-Aviv Yafo Declaration on Civic Engagement and Smart Cities, which is part of the Habitat III New Urban Agenda, she also drafted Israel's National Report to Habitat III. She holds a PhD in Geography from Tel-Aviv University, a Masters Degree in Public Administration and a Masters in Business Administration. Additionally, she was the 2009 recipient of the Green Globe for Local Sustainability.

Ronen Gafni

Ronen is a serial entrepreneur who grew up in the StartUp Nation of Israel trading on the stock market, operating a branding company, training companies, and more. He is the creator and founder of FreshBiz, and the FreshBiz game developer as well. Ronen co-authored "The New Entrepreneurz: Changing the Way You Play Life" and is a visionary global trainer or "business coach", as many like to call him. Ronen has been featured on TV, radio, and magazines talking about the future of business, and he has trained over 15,000 people across 20 countries on innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. As a keynote, speaker and futurist, Ronen masterfully weaves together new approaches to business, education, design, and lifestyle.

Sagi Shahar

Sagi is an entrepreneur with a mission to close the gap between what people could have been and what they really are. Sagi is the Co-founder of “Nachshons” – an innovative platform that enables Young Professionals to build a dual career and accelerate their growth while accelerating the growth of their community. He is also the CEO and Co-founder of “FiveYearsFromNow” – a global start-up with a mission to change the way people make career decisions. Sagi has also co-founded the “2040 Program” which redesigns the way people are being trained and developed in business organizations. In his previous positions, Sagi led the strategy practice at Tefen Management Consulting firm as an Associate Partner, and prior to that was part of the Business Development team at Better Place. The Virtuoso Violinist Tania Vinokur, as well as a dancer, singer and a drummer has been captivating audience all over the globe with her Electric Violin. Tania's mesmerizing performance spans from Oriental to Electronic sounds, combining the Classical, Latin & Pop music. Born in Moldova, Tania started her stage career at the age of 5. When she was 8 she immigrat-ed with her family to Israel, where she continued her classical education in Violin and Ballet, and soon fell in love with the rhythms from around the world that are all over in the cultural melting pot that is Israel.
