Los Gatos, CA. April 10th – TEDxLosGatosHighSchool will take place on April 15th at the Prentiss Brown Auditorium in Los Gatos High School from 1-5PM. The independently organized event, licensed by TED, will focus around the theme of: SHIFT. At the event, talks will discuss the subconscious motivations of our actions, what sailing around the world with our family teaches us, the extent to which the advancement of technology progresses and harms our society, and many more topics.

Launched in 2009, TEDx is a program of locally organized events that bring individual communities together to share the TED experience. Some of the best talks from TEDx events have gone on to be featured on TED.com and garner millions of views from audiences across the globe.

TEDxLosGatosHighSchool is an entirely student-run event, coordinated by students who are part of the school's peer support program Unconditionally Positive, commonly known as UP. This is the third year these students will bring the event to the Los Gatos community, and they are very excited to host an event that will be even more impactful than the last.

Ian Mitroff

Professor at Alliant U/UC Berkeley
Technology, which has made our lives incomparably better, is now one of the greatest threats facing humankind. All of the marvelous gadgets we’ve invented are not only thoroughly reinventing us, but they are doing it in ways that we have no idea of their full impacts. In short, we are undergoing a transformation/revolution that affects every aspect of our being—our brains, bodies, institutions, the entire world. It’s nothing less than The Revolution of Everything. Before any new technology is unleashed, it must be subject to the most rigorous audits of its human and social impacts, both positive and negative. And, it must continue to pass on-going audits as it impacts become clearer.
