TEDxIITDelhi is organized with overlapping aims of spreading the culture of ideas, entrepreneurship and innovation amongst the budding entrepreneurs of today, especially within the campus of IIT-Delhi. The event stands atop the list of events lined up in the annual fest organized by EDC- E Summit 2011.
The theme for the event is simple- “Passion”, which would allow the budding entrepreneurs to recognize their destination, while identify strong talents and ideas at the gathering at IIT-Delhi. Mr. Pradeep Gupta

Chairman and Managing Director A first generation entrepreneur, along with his family members promoted Cyber Media in 1982. Mr. Pradeep Gupta is a B.Tech from IIT Delhi (1975) and PGDBM from IIM Calcutta (1977). Mr. Pradeep Gupta, an IT veteran with over 30 years experience in the industry, pioneered ‘Business To Business’ publishing with India's first Information Technology magazine, Dataquest in 1982. CyberMedia is South Asia's largest specialty media house, with nine publications in the infotech, telecom, consumer electronics and biotech areas; and an end-to-end media value chain including the internet, events and television. The group's media services include market research, content outsourcing, multimedia, gaming and media education. He is also the Past Chairman of Pan-IIT Alumni India, a Board member of TiE Delhi and the Vice President of the Indian Association of Magazines. He also heads the Technology sub-committees of the Indian Newspaper Society. PG was awarded the distinguished alumnus award by his alma mater IIT Delhi in 2001.

Mr. William Bissell

William Nanda Bissell, 43, is the Managing Director of Fabindia, a company committed to the retail of products made by craft and small producer groups throughout India. Fabindia operates 118 stores (as of June 2010) and has a significant stake in East Limited a UK retailer with 78 stores, 54 independent and 24 in prominent department stores, including John Lewis stores. Fabindia is a pioneer in the Community Owned Company movement having converted its entire supply chain of small artisan clusters into Community Owned Companies(COCs). These companies have 40,000 artisan shareholders and operate in the same regions as the artisan clusters providing them with design inputs, raw materials and access to last mile warehousing and distribution for their products. Bissel is the author of “Making India Work” published by Penguin that outlines a plan for rapid environmentally sustainable growth for India. He lives in New Delhi with his wife Anjali and their two children Sara and John.

Prof. Dinesh Mohan

Dr. Dinesh Mohan, Professor, Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Program, IIT Delhi has been an instrumental architect of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). In the past he has worked at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Washington DC (1975-1978) and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (1971-1975). Professor Mohan has been a consultant on safety related matters to government departments in India, Nepal, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Iraq and Libya. A distinguished alumunus from IIT Bombay and a member of WHO advisory panel, Dr. Mohan designed BRT systems in Delhi that provide a dedicated corridor for quicker bus movements (coupled with bus priority signaling system) and give a segregated and safe corridor for pedestrians and non-motorized transport like cycles and cycle rickshaw. The BRTS is successfully running in a number of cities across the world like, Curitiba, Bogotá, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, LA, Beijing, Taipei, Seoul, Beijing, Johannesburg and Lagos.

Mr. Nitin Gupta

Nitin Gupta (Rivaldo) is the CEO of Entertainment Engineers (www.humorbeings.in) . He is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Bombay famous for creating a Cult Play 'Love In December'. Fresh out Campus, he got an offer to perform on Laughter Challenge, the opportunity which he later turned down! The reason is why he founded Entertainment Engineers with a simple mission, to make Stand Up Comedy respectable in India and to create a humor Renaissance in this country. Humor he says, ought to have an emotionality to it. We not only want people to laugh and think, we want them to LAUGH, THINK and FEEL at the same time. T.V. was not the medium to do that. So Nitin took to the Stage, College Festivals, Corporate Shows. And in a short span he has already enthralled the Audiences in some of the Biggest College Festivals in India, IITs, NITs, IIMs their Alumini Meets and various FORTUNE 500 Companies. Come March 2011, He is going on this First International Stand Up Comedy Tour in the US. A Guest Speaker at various E- Cell Platforms and Marketing Conclaves. A TED Favorite. He is widely considered as the most Original Orators and Stand Up Comic of Present times.

Mr. Vijay Thadani

He is best-known for co-founding NIIT along with Rajendra S. Pawar in 1981, and currently being the CEO of the company. He is also an alumnus of IIT-Delhi. Their venture- which is an Information Technology global education and training company headquartered in Gurgaon- has made it today as the world's largest Information Technology training and education company with 5 million students across 40 countries. It was his vision and leadership which led NIIT to take out IT education out of the confines of a few exclusive universities and bring it to the masses. He is currently the Chairman of the Conference of India Industry Associations (CII's) National Committee on Education, Vice Chairman, CII Northern Region and Chairman of the National Accreditation Board of Education and Training, under the aegis of Quality Council of India. In the past, he has been the President of the Indian IT Industry association (MAIT) and chaired Indian Government's Committee on National Information Infrastructure Policy.
