In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amit Shah

Amit Shah heads Corporate Strategy, Corporate Marketing & Communications at YES BANK, India’s 5th largest private sector Bank. A Design Thinker and TEDx Speaker, Amit is currently involved in building FinTech expertise and capabilities within YES BANK, by launching the largest corporate accelerator to support FinTech companies. He is also passionate about CSR and Sustainability. He is a famous design-thinker with extensive experience in transformational leadership in financial and consulting services. Recognised by LinkedIn as a key social media influencer with his profile featuring among the LinkedIn Power Profiles 2016, Amit Shah has been instrumental in creating the ‘YES Bank’ brand for the past eight years. It is during his tenure that the bank’s profits grew tenfold and the bank emerged as one of the top 500 Banking Brands globally. His contributions to the public understanding of FINTECH and Digital Banking have been noteworthy.

Anoushka Adya

Anoushka Adya is a marketing professional with over 10 years of work experience in the field. She is also a known entrepreneur with two successful start-up businesses – Lajja Diaries, a platform for women to voice their experience with abuse and Di-Mentions Studio, a digital marketing agency. Anoushka did her graduation in Management Studies from St. Xaviers College in Mumbai and went to the UK to do her Masters in Marketing and Strategy at the Warwick Business School at a very young age of 20. Anoushka Adya is a driven woman with the goal to contribute greatly to the business world as well as to the social treatment of women.

Dr. Vishal Rao

Dr. Vishal Rao is the in-charge of Head & Neck Services, Department of Surgical Oncology, Head & Neck Surgical Oncology at the HealthCare Global Cancer Centre, Bangalore. Dr. Rao has been trained in Oncology at one of the most prestigious cancer institutes of India, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He is also a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Otolaryngology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, USA; a Consultant at the Institute of Public Health; and a Director of the Cancer Prevention and Tobacco Control Project with W.H.O. Tobacco Free initiative partners. Dr. Vishal Rao is a Member of several organisations such as the Union for International Cancer control (UICC) Globalink – Global Tobacco Control etc. Additionally, Dr. Rao is an inventor who has made great contributions to the hearing industry.

Geeta Tandon

Geeta Tandon was born and brought up in Mumbai. Though her roots originate from Punjab, along with her extended family, she is a Mumbaikar at heart. She also follows the Maharashtrian culture. Ms. Tandon works as a Stuntwoman in the Bollywood industry. A brave heart, she has done multiple dangerous and risky stunts without fear. Moreover, she has performed stunts for not only actresses but also actors. Geeta has been associated with movies like ‘Udta Punjab,’ ‘Jazbaa,’ ‘Singham 2,’ ‘De Dana Dan,’ ‘Chennai Express,’ ‘Himmatwala,’ and the like in her career spanning over a decade. In addition, she has also performed test stunts for multiple seasons of ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi.’ Geeta, after a failed marriage, proudly adopted her father’s surname, Tandon. And having not stopped at the face of adversities, has created her own image in the Bollywood industry. In the future, she also plans to establish an institution which shall aid to lone girls and women in achieving their dreams.

Jay P Desai

Jay P Desai is the Founder & Managing Director of Universal Consulting India Pvt Ltd, with 26 years of management consulting experience in India. He built Universal Consulting from the ground up, starting with a tiny initial investment of Rs 50,000 (US $1000), 22 years ago, into one of the well-known Management Consulting Firms in India. He is the author of the book titled "Accountability: Angst, Awareness, Action" (Pearson 2012). Jay has also lectured at the Wharton School and the University of Cambridge. He holds the AMP degree from the Harvard Business School, a Master of Business Administration from Willamette University, a Master of Science in Biology from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, from the University of Mumbai. He has also attended several executive education programs at the Harvard Business School, Insead, and the Wharton School. Jay is an active student of Indian Classical Music, and has been playing the Sarod for more than 22 years.

Kanika Gupta

Kanika Gupta is a design strategist and textile designer at Izel. Izel’s two units, namely, Izel Homes and Izel Labs are engaged in design thinking practices. Ms. Gupta focuses on user-centric approach in textile, experiential brand strategy, and spaces. At Izel Labs, her focus remains on social as well as user experience projects while Izel Homes focuses on spaces and textiles. She has over 8 years of work experience spanning from a short corporate stint, to her founding Izel. A graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in Design Studies and Bachelors in textiles from National Institute of Fashion Technology, her interest lies in problem-solving at the crossroads of the user-centric approach to businesses. Prior to her founding Izel, she designed an experiential store design for Matki Brand with the INCUBE8 team, Singapore. She also led the communication design of a street campaign, titled ‘against overconsumption’ in London. She has worked in London and India, which has given her a transcultural approach to the process of thinking.

Krupalu Mehta

Krupalu Mehta is the co-founder, director of Parallax Labs, a Mumbai based VR/AR Content development studio. Mr. Mehta did his Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from K J Somaiya College of Engineering, Vidyavihar, Mumbai. Post his graduation, instead of pursuing his Masters from the USA, or getting a job, he chose to serve this industry with Parallax Labs. In addition, he established a collaboration between Parallax Labs and K J Somaiya College of Engineering, Vidyavihar to form ‘Somaiya Virtual and Augmented Reality Lab’, India’s fist dedicated lab for VR-AR development, providing a hands-on experience to students for VR-AR development also, creating an environment for Industry-academia relationship for development of futuristic technologies. This lab is the first in India to cater to the research and development needs of this industry and not directly for commercialisation of the technology. Mr. Mehta’s start-up studio, Parallax Labs is India’s one of the most promising start-ups in the upcoming technologies domain. Krupalu holds a background and expertise in Human Computer Interaction and User Experience Design as his personal profession.

Manan Gupta

Manan Gupta is a 24 years old singer, songwriter, and a percussive fingerstyle acoustic guitarist. Manan had planned to take up an animation course but he dropped the idea of college once he realised he could earn a living doing what he loves – music. Manan taught himself the guitar after being inspired by music legends such as John Mayer, Andy McKee, Tommy Emmanuel and Don Ross. He refused to play it traditionally or by the rules so he used different techniques on the guitar to write his own music to convey his emotions & feelings. He strongly believes that in the end, it’s important the ways in which one can connect with people through their skills as an artist. Right now, he works as a composer for TV ads (Reliance Bigflix, Zapak, Dabur, and Godrej, to name a few), film scores, and show montages.

Nabomita Mazumdar

Ms. Mazumdar is a social evangelist based in Mumbai. She has made a name for herself working by for Women Welfare. An alumna of XLRI Jamshedpur, Nabomita began her career as an HR professional; she moved on to community management and then established a foothold for herself as an expert in the start-up domain. Because of her social media presence, HR expertise and community management experience Ms. Mazumdar evolved into a major influencer in the start-up area. She has used her influence in social media and tech domain to cement herself as one of the most prominent voices of women and children empowerment in India. Nabomita has been awarded various honours such as ‘100 Women Achiever by Ministry of Women and Child Development’, ‘Top 25 Influential Women on Twitter’ and ‘Top 100 Tech Influencer’. These achievements have helped Nabomita create a brand for herself, something she leveraged to set up Nabomita.com in 2016, a platform through which she established herself as a major speaker and evangelist. Currently, she is working with ‘SHEROES’ - A platform for women with ambition and aspirations. SHEROES offers a career world with opportunities, high growth career resources, mentorship, skills and support. A community built around principles of learning, growth and sharing. Ms. Mazumdar is currently looking to expand her footprint in the non-profit sector and venture into pro-bono consulting.

Raj Desai

Raj Desai is an established brand in the world of startups today. With ventures such as ‘ThinkScream’ and ‘The Lost Party’ under his belt, Mr. Desai is currently working on setting up SOAL - School Of Accelerated Learning, an innovation and design focused school of computer programming aimed at India and other developing economies. An alumnus of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, Harvard Business School, and DevBoot Camp; Mr. Desai has spent a career pursuing innovation and developing technology in several sectors. ThinkScream – Mr. Desai’s marquee accomplishment, is the Mumbai-based startup that is built around the growing demand for internet connectivity in developing economies. ThinkScream enables users to avail its “WiFi Trash Bin” to provide WiFi solutions to high-density setups. Apart from ThinkScream, Raj has also worked on projects such as Burning Man and Cerebus – a machine that auto-sorts trash. Raj is extremely passionate about music and is an economist & math enthusiast. Raj believes in the power of technology and innovation to change lives and has spent his life working on projects that can help several communities; creating a culture of learning and curiosity.

Raul Rodriguez

Raul Villamarin Rodriguez, Criminal Intelligence Officer at Interpol, Influencer, Neuroscientist, Psychophysiologist & National/International Keynote Speaker. He has been rated Asia's Top Expert in the Science of Detecting Deception and is among the Top 25 Globally. Mr. Rodriguez, is a recognised authority on Deception Detection, Psychophysiology, Fraud Examination, Business Communication, Fraud Analysis, Analysis of Emotions, Emotional Footprinting, Criminal Profiling and Analytical interviewing. He provides training and consulting services for national law enforcement, Interpol, government agencies, large corporations and firms throughout Europe and Asia. Raul is a Certified Master Anti-Terrorism Specialist (CMAS) and a diploma holder in Neuro-Linguistic Programming by American Hypnosis Association. In addition, he is a Certified Deception Expert by Paul Ekman Group and Certified Fraud Examiner by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Saskia Rao-de Haas

Saskia Rao-de Haas is a virtuoso cellist and composer from the Netherlands who is based in India. She was trained as a Western cellist from a young age onwards, but changed direction when she came in touch with Indian music in 1993. Now, she is known as a master performer in Indian classical music and creator of a new instrument: the Indian cello. She studied cello at the Conservatory of Rotterdam specializing in Indian classical music under Koustav Ray and Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, while finishing her masters in Ethnomusicology from the University of Amsterdam. As a composer, she is eminent at bridging the Western and Indian classical music traditions. She is the first female non-Indian artist to have performed at the prestigious Doverlane Music conference in Kolkata. She has toured extensively through North America, Europe and Asia, performing at the world’s leading concert halls and festivals like Kennedy Center, the cello biennale in Amsterdam, the new directions cello festival in the US etc. Flute Maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia, speaks of his disciple Saskia as “someone who has been taught by God.” Her music is known to heal the soul and move her audience every single time.

Sreeraman Thiagarajan

Sreeraman, a marketing professional, currently is the Vice President at Publicis Beehive, where he drives the digital business. He is also the Chapter Manager at Google Business Group Mumbai and listed as Google Developer Experts for Marketing. He's amongst the panel of marketing mentors at Google Launchpad (Bangalore) and Zone Startups India. Sreeraman is an author by-line for The Economic Times, Digital Market Asia, and Ad Age India. He holds an MBA in Marketing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA. Some of the startups/entrepreneurs he has helped have been documented by Google as success stories and case studies - Parinita (E-commerce), The Indian Anthem Project (Entertainment) and Safecity (NGO).

Tanvi Bhatt

Tanvi Bhatt is a Mumbai based entrepreneur who specialises in the field of Personal Branding. She has garnered fame and acclaim in the corporate world for her work as a thought leader in the personal branding space. She runs Panache - India’s Premier Personal Branding Company. Tanvi deeply believes in creating legacies through passion, which she advocates through her firm.
