In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dan Blakeley

Dan Blakeley is a graduate student at Appalachian State University getting a double major in Engineering Physics and Appropriate Technology. He created an internationally competitive and recognized Solar Vehicle Team at Appalachian State University. He is currently researching the feasibility of meeting daily commuter needs in production electric vehicles using integrated solar as the primary fuel.

Matthew Robinson

Professor of Government and Justice Studies at Appalachian State University. He joined the faculty twenty years ago after receiving his PhD from the school of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University. Robinson is the Past President of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Association and the Southern Criminal Justice Association, and is the author of more than twenty books on topics of crime and criminal justice.

Sirisha Karra

Sirisha Karra is a sophomore at Appalachian State studying cellular molecular biology. She became interested in non-profit work her freshman year of high school and got exposed CORD sophomore year. She then became involved with a new chapter in the Raleigh area. When not doing non-profit work, she enjoys singing a Acapella group here, and playing volleyball. She hopes to give you a glimpse into what it means for her to work with CORD.

Travis Triplett

Dr. Travis Triplett is a professor and Director of the Strength and Conditioning Concentrations for the Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in Exercise Science. She has been at Appalachian for fourteen years and has been involved with NASA on several panels that examined space station resistance exercise machine design, astronaut training program effectiveness, and Earth-based simulated microgravity studies.
