Theme: Through the Looking Glass

Join the community for a day of idea-sharing and networking at New Albany's own independently organized and licensed TED event, where 10 speakers will wow the crowd in 5-18 minutes. At TEDxNewAlbany, norms will be challenged, minds will be opened, and attendees will leave inspired.

We prefer that those who purchase tickets stay for the entirety of the event. 4 hours is a standard length for a TED event, and given the short nature of talks, you are bound to be on the edge of your seat! You will not want to miss the ideas that will be shared at this event, nor the opportunities to meet new people and socialize!

Through her speaking, she aims to motivate and inspire people to embrace the unknown.

Brian Reed is a loving husband and a father to three amazing girls. He graduated from the class of '92 at OSU as a business major. He now is the founder and owner of MojoTaGo, which started in 2010, and he is also a board member of the National Food Truck Association.

Dave Wharton

Olympian + coach + community

Dave’s commitment to hard work and focus have led him on an incredible journey. Through dedication and passion, Dave competed at the highest level in the sport of swimming achieving an Olympic Silver Medal as well as setting several World Records. He embraces the opportunity to coach young kids, teenagers, collegiate athletes and deaf swimmers who love the sport as much as he does. As the Director of New Albany Parks and Recreation, Dave works with the community to provide active opportunities for everyone.

Doug Ulman

Survivor + community-builder + advocate

Doug understands the battle against cancer from first hand experience; he himself is a three-time survivor. Doug has used this experience to make a positive impact and become a globally recognized cancer advocate.

Katie Vatke

Passionate + diplomatic + eclectic

Katie Vatke is a strong advocate for speaking out against environmental issues which will become increasingly harmful unless we make a change. She believes it is difficult to make change if people don't even know there is an issue and is excited to use her TED talk as an opportunity to educate others on the impact that environmental issues can create.

Morgan Raymore

Enigmatic + confident + unapologetic

Morgan Raymore is a senior at Gahanna Lincoln High School. She is extremely passionate about social issues and about advocating for all communities that are underrepresented. Morgan has learned to use her voice to convey messages she finds important, yet she used to hide her voice from many discussions because she feared she would sound silly. When she finally learned to overcome the discomfort associated with public speaking, she found it liberating, and from that day on she knew that she wanted to continue advocating for her positions throughout her life.

Pat Losinski

Strategic + committed + resourceful

Patrick is strategic, committed, resourceful, and he is the Chief Executive Officer of Columbus Metropolitan Library in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to joining the 23-location library system, Losinski was executive director of Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado Springs and was a library director at two other public library systems in Illinois and Ohio. In 2016, CEO Magazine named him its 2015 CEO of the Year in the large nonprofit category. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.

Ross Hartley

Dynamic + disciplined + empathetic

Born and raised in Pickerington, Ohio, Ross has the opportunity to serve the community that he grew up in. As a Robotics teacher at Pickerington Ridgeview Junior High and cross country coach at Pickerington North, Ross has been able to help lead students and athletes who are in the same shoes he was once in. Ross has also had success as a triathlete, finishing as the national runner up in his age group 4 different times and earning a Bronze Medal at the 2014 World Championships.

Sara Reichley

Seeker + whimsical + free-spirited

As a Spanish instructor at New Albany High School, Sara (Miss Reichley) views teaching as an opportunity to expose her students to the Spanish language and its culture. Thus, not only do they learn from her, but she learns from them as well. By openly speaking of herself as a lifelong learner, she instills a sense of curiosity and wonder in her students.

Scott Guldin

Angular + slouchy + carbon-based

As a middle school teacher, Scott Guldin draws on several years of experience as a sketch and improvisational comedian to cultivate a classroom climate that invites students to laugh as they learn. After graduating from Kenyon College, Guldin took writing classes at Second City in Chicago and performed with 1033, his sketch comedy troupe.
