In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Adaeze Iheobi

A self-proclaimed reservoir engineer by day, blogger by night, Adaeze describes herself as a “25 year old lover of life”. One of our very own ISA alumni from the class of 2009, after graduating, Adaeze went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Material Engineering at Queen Mary University and a Masters in Petroleum Engineering at Imperial College. Currently, she works as a reservoir engineer at Statoil.

Addison Baker

Addison Baker is a 17 year old international student who has taken full advantage of the unique opportunities to connect with the world around her. She speaks four languages, is an avid member of the Model United Nations, and is also a published writer.

Katie Newbury

Katie is a senior associate in the private client immigration team at Kingsley Napley, whose areas of expertise ranges from assisting with asylum claims and human rights applications to challenging the UK Home Office by way of appeal and through a number of successful judicial reviews.

Maya Jama

A radio presenter at RinseFM, and a host at 4Music, Maya Jama has been in the entertainment industry since she made the decision to move from Bristol to London at the tender age of 16.

Myles Edwards

Myles is the founder of the Aberdeen based charity the Gathimba Edwards Foundation, which supports disadvantaged children in Kenya. Born in Aberdeen, Myles attended Mile End Primary School and Aberdeen Grammar Secondary School before going on to study Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University. To top it all off, he is a Scottish International middle distance runner and double Scottish 1500m champion.

Tim Garry

Tim Garry, a high school math and Theory of Knowledge teacher, has been educating students here at ISA (the International School of Aberdeen) for many years. Mr Garry has co-authored textbooks for Maths Higher Level and Standard Level, and frequently delivers workshops and conferences all over the world. Overall, he has been passionately teaching mathematics for 33 years.
