In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dr. Tom Ran

Synthetic Biology Researcher
Dr. Ran is a researcher in the field of synthetic biology and a passionate communicator of new and exciting scientific projects to the public, in a popular and fun to grasp manner (through lectures, newspapers, TV and radio shows). He holds 6 Academic degrees in various fields ranging from Computer Science, Life Science, Clinical Psychology, to a Ph.D. in Biomolecular Computers. For almost 10 years Dr. Ran was one of the leaders of the Biological computer project in the Weizmann Institute, developing the world’s smallest computer (3 trillion computers in a single drop of water), with the vision of creating nano-submarines which will roam our body, search, analyze and destroy cancer cells, even before any external symptoms appear. Dr. Ran represents the Y-generation, which parallels between his computer for work-related projects, surfing the web on his phone and listening to audiobooks on his earphones. He is an Information Junkie. Besides this, he is crazy about his wife and 3 boys.

Dr. Tuvya Amsel

Dr. Tuvya Amsel is a senior criminal investigator, polygraph examiner, researcher and innovator in the area of human integrity and credibility. In the last 45 years, he has interviewed over 35,000 people while conducting various types of criminal investigations, polygraph tests, security screenings and integrity projects – for small businesses as well as mega corporations (up to 55,000 employees) in both America and Asia. Beyond investigating, Dr. Amsel is an author of books, a creator of law enforcement manuals and a columnist for American and European polygraph magazines. Since 1982, Dr. Amsel has been sharing his vast experience with law enforcement agencies and corporate security departments all over the world.

Eran Katz

He is also the co-founder & Chairman of Kol-Zchut (All Rights), a non-profit website, where everyone can get high quality information, about all their rights, benefits & entitlements, in all domains, in plain language along with guidance on how they can be realized. Erez probably spent too much time in universities, but surprisingly received B.Sc. in Computer Science, MBA in Marketing and MA in Philosophy (Magna Cum Laude) all from Tel Aviv University.

Galia Benartzi

Entrepreneur & Community Builder
Galia Benartzi is an entrepreneur and community builder from California and Israel. She studied Comparative Literature at Dartmouth College and International Relations & Economics at SAIS Johns Hopkins. In 2005, Galia co-Founded Mytopia, the first social gaming company for smartphones, and in 2010, Particle Code, a cross-platform development technology for mobile applications. In 2013, Galia moved from Silicon Valley to Tel Aviv to support and invest in Israeli technology as a Venture Partner at Founders Fund. Recently she has co-launched numerous local currency pilots to model, build and test software for community marketplace networks. Galia is a founding member of Powder Mountain, permanent home of the Summit community in Eden, Utah, and a creator of Eden2Zion Reality trips by the Schusterman Foundation. She is passionate about decentralized technologies, women’s empowerment, consciousness, natural wellness and plants.

Leonard Brody

Mr. Brody is an award winning entrepreneur, venture capitalist, best-selling author & 2-time Emmy nominated media visionary. Moses Project

Moses Project is a musical project lead by producer and musician Guy Moses. Moses gathered top notch musicians with him and, together, they created: 'Imperfections' - Moses's Debut album. Around this, he united the group of musicians with dancers and performers, and created a show that combines live electronic music, vocalists, movement & lighting into an exciting multi-sense experience that gives and interpretation and life into the music, through the body.

Ori Sasson

Olympic Champion in Judo
Ori Sasson was awarded a bronze medal in the 2016 Olympics for representing Israel in the Judo +100kg competition. He has also won the silver medal in the European Judo Championship for two consecutive years (2015-2016). Ori is one of the top-ranked judokas in the world and is currently ranked 3rd in the field. Along with training hard for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Ori is highly active in the community. He works to inspire others to persevere through hardships and encouraging them to face their challenges head on. All this while studying for his bachelors degree in psychology. Ori’s Olympic victory made international headlines after his opponent refused to shake his hand at the end of the match. Ori’s professionalism during the incident earned him global appraise.

Reem Younis

Visionary Leader & Entrepreneur
Ms. Reem Younis was born (1964) and raised in Nazareth, Israel. Ms. Younis holds a B.Sc. Degree in civil engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Together with Mr. Imad Younis, she founded Alpha Omega in 1993. Ms. Younis’ visionary leadership played an integral role in Alpha Omega’s success. In 1994, Ms. Younis co-founded Alpha-Cad, a company that specializes in supplying complete CAD solutions, mainly for construction businesses. The company was acquired in 2003. Currently, she invests most of her time serving on many NGO’s as board or committee member, specifically NGO’s that promote her passionate support for the 3 E’s – Education , Employment & Entrepreneurship. Ms. Younis’ aspiration is to promote the 3E’s among younger generations, encouraging them to pursue their dreams for a brighter future. In turn, she believes this would have a great impact on Nazareth and the periphery – it would transform the area into a modern and technologically focused area.

Roei Deutsch

CEO & Co-Founder, JOLT
Roei Deutsch is the CEO and co-founder of JOLT, a marketplace for live talks given by professionals to teams who wish to keep up to speed with rapid market changes. He founded and sold his first company at the age of 15 and, by the age of 18, served as new-media consultant for the Vice President of FOX International Channels. Roei also served as the CEO of Veribo and took part in the rise of one of the most prominent Israeli political parties today through digital campaigns in the last two election cycles. Roei was also named in TheMarker Magazine ’40 under 40′ list, twice.

Vardit Gross

Director, Artport Art Center & Residency Program
Vardit Gross is the director of Artport Art Center and Residency Program in Tel Aviv. She worked for over five years at Creative Time in New York as a curator, focusing on public art projects by prominent artists including Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Zang Huan, and Jenny Holzer. Vardit is the Co-Founder of “Plaster”, an annual charitable art exhibition for Physicians for Human Rights in Israel and of Artport’s Art Book Fair. Vardit was Associate Director of Artis Contemporary for six years and is a leading writer about contemporary art in Israel (as the Art Columnist of Yedioth Aharonot Newspaper) as well as a contributor to ArtReview, Flash Art International, and Tablet Magazine among others. Vardit earned her Bachelor degree in Law and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University, and a Masters degree in Interactive Telecommunications from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Vered Shavit

Independent Researcher & Lecturer in the Digital Death Field
Vered Shavit explores the surprising new challenges following deaths in the digital era: from the way our online personalities are commemorated posthumously and sometimes “keep on living,” to the fate of our digital assets and legacies. After years of working as a producer for television and cultural events, in 2011 she encountered the subject under tragic circumstances. Her brother, journalist Tal Shavit, was killed when hit by a car. She was thus introduced to the Digital Death realms, realized there was a gap in awareness and solutions, and became an independent researcher and lecturer in this field. Shavit founded blogs, such as “Digital Dust.” She speaks at organizations, such as universities and the official committee of the Israeli Knesset. Her work was featured vastly in the Israeli television, radio, print and online news, as well as on BBC Radio 4 and several international publications.

Yaron Schwarcz

Thought Leader & Advocate for Future of Living in Urban Environments
Yaron is a thought leader and advocate for the future of living in urban environments. Most recently, he was selected as the Bold Innovator for the Affordable Housing XPRIZE. Yaron is the Founder and CEO of Tridom: Robotic Automation for the Construction Industry. He is a consultant and thought leader for innovation and acceleration of technologies, also serving in the Office of the Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Economy. At the age of 21, Yaron founded his first company, which he sold after three years. He is a winner of the Ramon Breakthrough Competition, an accredited high school teacher, and has attended Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program where he founded Tridom. Yaron looks forward to sharing his experience and enthusiasm about the future of life in cities.

Yifat Yudovsky

Yifat Yudovsky is the Founder and CEO of Vent: a peer to peer community based,  learning platform created exclusively by teens for teens, and works with an advisory board made entirely out of young and bright adults.  Yifat is a social entrepreneur and education activist promoting teens to the forefront of entrepreneurship. Zaki Djemal

Zaki Djemal is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of fresh.fund, the first student-run venture capital fund in Israel. He is also Co-Founder of דאבל ירושלמי | دابل مقدسي | Jerusalem Double, Jerusalem’s first backgammon league and championship for Jews and Arabs. Past adventures of Zaki include: starting tradr, an e-commerce platform for independent fashion brands that is consistently among the most popular in the Brazilian App Store, and serving as a humanitarian aid worker in South Sudan, Japan, Haiti and Nepal. A prolific writer, Zaki has published work in Ha’aretz, Times of Israel, Galatz, Channel Two News, CNN and others. He’s on the board of Tevel BeZedek, a non-profit that promotes sustainability in the Global South, and the Israel Harvard Club. Zaki graduated with honors from Harvard University where he studied Behavioral Economics.
