Organized on September 6, 2016, the inaugural TEDxP&GSingapore gathered close to 500 P&G APAC Employees and was held at the Drama Centre, National Library Singapore. This year’s event saw 15 multi-faceted inspirational individuals in and out of P&G, including a National Geographic photographer, an Olympian swimmer, an ex-convict turned social entrepreneur, a Disney animator, and a trail-blazing P&G VP amongst many others share their personal stories.

Abe Nouk

Spoken-word poet, hip hop fanatic, MC and Author
Abe is a spoken-word poet, hip hop fanatic, MC and author who was illiterate when he arrived with his family to Australia as refugees from Sudan. Realizing his illiteracy, he began reading and writing to improve his lyrical content. He now works with young refugee children to provide them education through his organization “Creative Rebellion Youth”

Andrew Bryant

Motivational Speaker and Self Leadership Expert
Andrew Bryant is more than just a Motivational Speaker and Self Leadership Expert. He has been invited to speak in 20+ countries on 4 continents with 100.000+ people inspired. He was first a Physiotherapist & Acupuncturist in the UK where he helped athletes get into peak condition. Realizing that winning was not only physical, but mental & spiritual too, he studied psychology, linguistics, neuro-semantics and hypnosis.

Ben Shedd

Academy Award winning filmmaker & Professor
Academy Award winning filmmaker Ben Shedd has been a professional film & video director/producer writer since 1970 and is also a professor at the School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University. He has not only produced award-winning films of social and intellectual interest, but has also taught courses in film production, independent film business, and visual design at seven universities.

Benny Se Tio

Chef and Co-Founder of Eighteen Chefs Restaurant
Chef Benny is the co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of the restaurant chain Eighteen Chefs. His life story proves that it’s never too late to begin life afresh. He was a drug addict and a convict who turned his life around and is now a chef and social entrepreneur. He is committed to hiring ex-offenders and youths-at-risk as Eighteen Chefs’ staff to help them with their rehabilitation.

Carlos Celdran

Artist, tour guide, and a cultural activist
One of the more polarizing figures in the Philippines, Carlos Celdran is a performing artist, tour guide, and a cultural activist. He is known for his performances and opinions that cut through Filipino society and for his Intramuros tours that journey people back in history and time, showing what was once lost and forgotten in a new modern, and sometimes harsh light of day.

Crystal Goh

Singer/Songwriter
Crystal Goh is a singer and songwriter, and the founder of Diamonds on the Street initiative to work with girls living in a shelter, and the children of prison inmates, to turn their reflections into songs. She was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition that left her without a voice for two years. However, through sheer will, she found her voice in the midst of pain – by offering hope to those in need instead.

Elaine Heng

First Artist Ballerina at Singapore Dance Theatre
Elaine is a First Artist ballerina who has trained at the Singapore Ballet Academy from the age of six. As a student, she had the opportunity to perform in many of Singapore Dance Theatre’s productions such as The Nutcracker, The Red Shoes, Coppélia, The Legacy of Goh Choo San, as well as in the Royal Ballet’s Swan Lake when they toured to Singapore in 2005.

Eugene Soh

Artist, Designer & Programmer
Eugene Soh a.k.a. DUDE is a computer programming genius who ‘accidentally’ became an artist when his photographic piece, contextualizing Da Vinci’s Last Supper in a local hawker center setting, surfaced on social media. That discovery, with its tongue-in-cheek commentary on contemporary life in Singapore, catapulted him into the art world. He has since been a full time artist who codes really well.

Gil Perez

R&D Manager for Procter & Gamble
Gil Perez is a Filipino R&D Regulatory Manager who joined P&G in 2000. He has worked in the Philippines and Japan before moving to Singapore. He is a triathlete father of three, two of which are twins with special needs. His family’s journey to “recovery” is a testament to what is possible when one dares to change one’s beliefs.

Jacqui Hocking

Documentary Film Maker
Jacqui Hocking is a documentary filmmaker, co-founder of LateNite Films in Melbourne. The first half of her career was spent travelling and sailing around the world filming a UN Environmental Expedition, which ignited her passion to bring together Companies, Communities and Consumers to create large-scale sustainable impacts. Her company, Gone Adventurin’ in Singapore, now works with corporate leaders across Asia for this cause.

Joscelin Yeo

Former Competitive Swimmer
Joscelin is a former competitive swimmer from Singapore who has received a multitude accolades. Joscelin represented Singapore for four straight Olympics. She made history by winning 40 gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games. A record that might never be beaten. She has also represented Singapore in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Summer Olympics.

Maria Labastidas

Design Managers for Procter & Gamble
Maria (Caro) Labastidas, is a Venezuelan Graphic Designer who joined P&G in 2004, she has worked across Venezuela, Panama, China and recently moved to Singapore where she is the Design Leader for the HOPE organization. Her life story proof the theory that everything you want in your life is possible, and please, don’t say No, in her talk you will discover why not.

Markus Strobel

Vice-President,Procter & Gamble, Global SK-II
Markus has had a glamorous career with P&G for 24 years in Germany, London, Caracas, Geneva and Singapore. He has spent the majority of his career in Beauty & Grooming businesses. He left an indelible mark on the P&G’s Prestige business, turning Hugo Boss from a small German fragrance brand into global leadership in the male fragrance market. As a General Manager, he created P&G Prestige Luxury Division with the acquisition of the Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci fragrance businesses, building the capabilities to win in the high end luxury market.

Stephen Alvarez

Award winning National Geographic photographer
Stephen is an award winning National Geographic photographer and film maker who produces global stories about exploration, adventure, culture and archaeology. He has published over a dozen feature stories in National Geographic Magazine. The Magazine has sent him from the highest peaks in the Andes to the depths of the deepest cave in the world.

Tony Bancroft

Animator and Director
Tony is a Disney animator who has worked on animated classics like Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King & Stuart Little 2 to name a few. He became the youngest director in Disney’s history when he directed the feature Mulan, which won him an Annie Award for Best Director. He then founded his own independent animation studio where he produces and directs animated features for the international market.
