In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Gabriel Blanco Camacho

Gabriel Blanco is a Grade 7 seven student currently attending the Anglo Colombiano School in Bogotá, Colombia. He wants people to be aware of the issues surrounding agriculture. Using urban farming he believes we can help manage the food crisis and other problems such as escalating prices of basic needs. Although he has only recently started taking action he is willing to do everything in order to make communities aware of this potentially life treating issue. At age 13 Gabriel is encouraging all people to grow some food or contribute to a local farm, because this effort won’t work if only a handful of people. Remember food is expensive and a precious commodity. We need all hands on board in order to solve this problem.

Juliana Maria Marquez Salej

Student
My name is Juliana Márquez and I am fourteen years old. I consider myself a really joyful person, I laugh whenever I can and enjoy being with my friends and family. I have always had a passion for sports, especially basketball, but something that has won over my heart is fashion. Putting outfits together is something that has never failed to amaze me. There are other things I like doing as well, reading books and music. These things have shaped my thinking in incredible ways, and in this way I constantly try to view the world around me in a different way.

Lucia Arias Acevedo

Student
I was born in Bogota, Colombia in 2001. With a Colombian family, I was raised directly into the Colombian culture but at the same time I was allowed an international view of the world that was granted to me mainly by my school environment. Living a life where I have to experience crippling fear on a daily bases led me to wonder; if fear was such a natural and human emotion, how do other people deal with it? How do they react to it? Mainly; how are the people around them affected by this reaction? These recurring questions combined with an international view of the world and my ever lasting fascination with human behaviour, led me to create this talk.

Martin Aguirre Lanner

Student
I was born in Colombia in 2002. I live by the accomplishment of small goals that lead to a greater goal. I have a great interest for education, social, political, economical, and technological development. I want to be able to contribute as much as I can to the people of my country, and to use education as a way of uniting and realising the full potential of our world. I live for change, for new opportunities and new perspectives. Curiosity, creativity, persistence, responsibility and conviction are the words that best describe me.

Michael Keith Parry Mujica

Student
The 20th of December of 1998, an uncommon child was born. He was not uncommon because he had any physical difference from any other baby that was born on that day. But because his mathematical mind ignited with the first breath of oxygen he inhaled. All his life this kid has linked many of his activities with math. Such as when he started to play football when he was 8 years old. Even when he applied to go on an exchange, he mentioned math in his application. This mathematically minded teenager is called Michel Keith Parry. You should listen to this talk to open your mind to what Math has to offer in the real world.
