In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Benjamin Von Wong

Viral Conceptual Photographer
Motivated by the desire to be creatively challenged and overcome impossibilities, Benjamin Von Wong has become notorious for his epic photography. His hyper-realistic art style captures viewers in a fusion of special effects and innovative concepts. He is currently focused on conservation related projects. Benjamin has also created several social media awareness campaigns.

Dissa Ahdanisa

Dissa Ahdanisa is the founder of Finger Talk Café in Pamulang, Banten, a café that aims to empower deaf individuals with work opportunities while also giving customers a chance to learn sign language and deaf culture. She is also a fellow of Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative and in September 2016, Finger Talk Café was mentioned by President Obama in his opening speech in YSEALI Town Hall Meeting in Luang Prabang, Laos.

Henrique Nasc

Henrique Nascimento is a designer who sees himself as a social composer. He investigates the role of technology as a possible enabler of a new working condition. In his latest project Me/You+TheRobot, he collaborated with the Dutch Designer Erik Vlemmix to create an algorithm-based working space, where humans can discuss political, ethical or social topics while a robot moderates and displays real-time references by using artificial intelligence.

Jay Lim

With his undying passion in design and teching, Jay created his first design magazine - called CUTOUT Magazine- in 2010. He was among the 20 Young Malaysian Designers handpicked by masters in the industry under the ANTALIS 102030 programme. He has won awards including HKDA GDA 2016 and Red Dot Design Award 2015 to name a few. Often invited to many international design events as a speaker and judge, he is also a visiting professor at Kun Shan University in Taiwan.

Judy Cheng-Hopkins

After a career of 36 years at the UN, Ms Cheng-Hopkins is currently an adjunct professor at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. Her UN career covered diverse fields of work: development, humanitarian, refugees and peacebuilding. She was Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding from 2009-2014, with the responsibility to build up the organization responsible for bringing the UN's new peacebuilding "architecture" to life. Prior to that, Ms. Cheng-Hopkins was the UN’s Assistant High Commissioner for Refugees, in Geneva, from 2006 to 2009. She served as the Director of the World Food Programme’s Office in New York and as Director for Asia and Eastern Europe, based in Rome for close to 10 years. Prior to that, she served UNDP in Africa for 10 years in Zambia and Kenya (1982-92). She was also UNDP's Deputy Assistant Administrator for Africa. Ms. Cheng-Hopkins received a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (1978). In 2011, Forbes named her one of the 10 most powerful women in the UN and in 2013, she received Columbia University's (SIPA) Global Leadership Award. She was Chair of the Conflict Prevention Council at the World Economic Forum, Davos in 2012.

Laura François

Francois is the founder of Thread.bio, a community of ethical fashion enthusiasts as well as the country coordinator of Fashion Revolution Singapore. In addition to advocating for conscious consumerism, Francois consults social enterprises in design thinking and sustainability. Her approach to the fashion industry is founded on her value based leadership coupled with her experience in CSR and sustainability research.

Marianna Pascal

Marianna Pascal helps professionals achieve greater success in life by communicating effectively in English. Marianna began her career as an actor and performed across her native Canada in film television and on stage for 15 years. Today, Marianna improves the way employees relate to their bosses, clients, colleagues and other key stakeholders. Marianna is also the Official Communication Trainer for Miss Malaysia World. An award-wining speaker, Marianna is known for her humorous speech on Youtube titled "Local English or Standard English" which has been seen by over a million people worldwide. Marianna is also the author of the best-selling book series English Fast & Easy. The most recent was #2 on Borders' Best-Selling List for non-fiction.

Mehedi Hasan

Mehedi Hasan is the Founder & CEO of MyCash Online, a FinTech startup that empowers unbanked migrants across Asia. In the last 6 months, MyCash Online has served over 47,000 migrants workers in Malaysia through 400 merchants nationwide. He is passionate about and believes in democratizing technology to enhance and impact the lives of millions of underserved people across Asia.

Monica Tong

Monica Tong founded MNA, a digital platform that focuses on reporting the Internet of Things (IoT), Technology and Digital surrounding the music industry; its impact, trends and challenges in the music market. She now divides her time between attending music festivals and conferences, writing, researching and being involved in the ever expanding and changing music and tech scene in Asia-Pacific.

Stephen Hanlon

Stephen Hanlon is the co-founder of Rojak Culture, a social enterprise aimed at uniting Malaysians through play. Rojak Culture recognises that our collective Malaysian identitys is a unique blend of different cultures and with the launch of Lepak Game, they encourage Malaysians to participate in dialogues for unity through simple and light hearted ways.
